‘Jersey Shore’: The Real Reason Sammi Giancola is Pretending Her Reality TV Life Never Happened
MTV’s reboot of Jersey Shore has been successful, no matter how you want to measure it. The show not only garnered the attention of its former viewers but also welcomed in an entirely new generation of television watchers. The show, however, has gone on without one of its original stars. Sammi Giancola made the decision to walk away from the fame and fortune that Jersey Shore: Family Vacation would have brought her way back in 2017. Fans haven’t stopped talking about the decision since, and a recent arrest for Ronnie Ortiz-Magro has brought the conversation back to Giancola. So, why did she really decide to forgo another TV appearance?
Jenni Farley suggested Sammie Giancola should capitalize on the fame
Jenni ‘Jwoww’ Farley insisted that she couldn’t understand why Giancola would choose to walk away from the series. According to People, the mother of two insists that she would capitalize on the fame while she could because the Jersey Shore cast continues to bring Giancola’s name into the conversation. Basically, Farley claims that if Giancola’s name is going to keep popping up, she might as well make money off of it.
For Giancola, though, it doesn’t seem to be about capitalizing on anything. In fact, she seems perfectly content to have used Jersey Shore as a springboard to other things. Sure, she might be keeping it lowkey, but she’s launched a clothing business, worked on a podcast, and is seemingly happy with her level of wealth.
Sammi Giancola talked of staying out of the drama when she announced she wouldn’t return to the series
Giancola insisted that she would not be returning to the small screen for Jersey Shore: Family Vacation because she didn’t want to insert drama into her life. It seems that around the time the idea of the reboot was being kicked around, Giancola was happily entrenched in a new romance. The drama she was speaking about likely had a little something to do with her ex, Ortiz-Magro.
While Giancola’s statement never came right out and said it, fans can read between the lines. Basically, Giancola refused to jeopardize her relationship and her own mental health to collect a paycheck. It was probably a smart choice, Ortiz-Magro made it pretty clear he wasn’t yet over Giancola, so one can assume the former flames in a house together would have generated a great deal of drama.
Ortiz-Magro went on to have a child with another woman and was recently arrested for domestic violence. Giancola, on the other hand, is living a private life and recently got engaged. It seems like the decision to prioritize her relationship over the show paid off.
Sammi doesn’t seem to be interested in the limelight anymore
Giancola made it clear that she has no desire to come back to relive her Jersey Shore days. While the rest of the cast was on board immediately, Giancola never was. She insists she’s a different person now than when she first appeared on TV, but some fans believe the businesswoman might be a little bit embarrassed about her time on the reality TV show.
It would make sense. While her co-stars had no shortage of embarrassing moments on the show none of them deal with issues like Giancola. Her time as a reality TV star was marred by a toxic relationship and codependent behavior. If Giancola has genuinely moved on, changed and developed an emotionally healthy relationship, her desire to close the door on that chapter of her life makes perfect sense.
