‘Jersey Shore’: Vinny Guadagnino Explains Why Some Fans Find Him ‘Rude’

A ‘Jersey Shore’ producer thinks fame went to Vinny Guadagnino’s head
When Jersey Shore premiered, Guadagnino was a quiet kid from Staten Island. Now, he is the outgoing “Keto Guido” who moonlights as a Chippendales stripper.
In October 2020, a former Jersey Shore producer who worked on the first four seasons of the show answered fan questions on Reddit. When one fan asked what Guadagnino was like off-camera, the producer shared their feelings regarding his evolution over the years.
“Vinny was articulate and a smart young man,” the producer began.
However, when I would see him outside of the show, he came off as slightly rude and with his nose in the air pretty high. I loved Vinny in season 1 because he was incredibly mature. But by season 3, he rode on his ego a lot, which arrogance isn’t cute, no matter how you slice it.
Vinny Guadagnino says he is an ‘acquired taste’
Throughout the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Guadagnino has entertained himself and his followers by opening up his Instagram Stories to fan questions. During an “ask me anything” forum on Jan. 10, one fan asked: “Why do Jersey Shore fans say you’re rude? What do you do [to] them?”
“I’m an acquired taste because I’m just me and most people put on a social costume,” Gudagnino replied. “So maybe some people would rather phony niceness all the time. But my true peeps see me for me and know the deal.”
Some ‘Jersey Shore’ fans are disappointed in Vinny Guadagnino
In a discussion thread on Reddit, Jersey Shore fans dissected Guadagnino’s answer. Many weren’t happy with his justification regarding why some fans say he’s “rude.”
“This sounds like a lame excuse for treating people [and] fans like crap,” one Reddit commenter said. “It costs nothing to be nice, Vinny!”
“He’s the type of person who confuses honesty and authenticity with just being a jack a*s,” another added. “I’m really not a fan of him at all.”
“Never liked Vinny at all,” a particularly heated fan said, continuing:
He’s a perfect example of poser and fame really got to his head. If it wasn’t for Jersey Shore, he’d be a nobody (granted). The way he talks, treats others and presents himself is like he’s better than everyone when in reality, he’s just a poser because he knows he has no true identity.
Other ‘Jersey Shore’ fans are bothered by Vinny Guadagnino’s treatment of women
Guadagnino’s comment about being an “acquired taste” upset some fans who presume he has a disregard for women.
“I don’t think I ever want to acquire a taste for someone that treats all women like they are only to be used for sex and is smug and condescending,” said a Reddit user.
Others were bothered by Guadagnino’s response to a different fan-submitted question. Another Instagram user asked what Guadagnino’s “ideal wifey” was and he said:
Someone I have a physical connection with, but still want to hang out with after smashing. Also someone who it feels like I’m still alone, even when we are together.
“His response to his ideal wife was weird AF,” another commenter said. “Couldn’t tell if he was joking or not.”
Fans are still looking for clarity in regards to Guadagnino’s dream woman.
