Jessa and Jana Duggar Are the Only Duggar Siblings to Wish Jill Duggar a Happy Birthday on Social Media
Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are known for having 19 children. And now, it’s their adult kids who are taking over the limelight — and Jill Duggar is getting plenty of attention.
Jill and her husband, Derick Dillard, used to be featured on TLC’s Counting On. But the two fell out of favor with the network. And now, Derick has gone out of his way to tell Instagram followers about Jill’s relationship with the rest of the Duggars — and he made some shocking reveals.
Jill turned 29 years old on May 17 — and we noticed only two of her siblings made any mention of it on social media. Is this due to the family rift? Here’s what we know.
Jill Duggar is notoriously on the outs with the rest of her family
Fans of the Duggars have noticed Jill taking a step back from her family since 2019. While Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids all gather for holidays and weekly events, Jill, Derick, and their two kids, Israel and Samuel, always appear to be absent. And Derick finally broke his silence about where he and Jill stand with Jill’s family via Instagram in December 2019.
When a fan asked Derick if he or Jill see the other Duggars, Derick replied, “it’s just harder now because we’re not allowed at the house when JB isn’t there.” He then explained that Jill was only allowed at the Duggar family home when Jim Bob allowed.
“Jill even had to ask JB permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted her help, but Jill couldn’t provide the assistance until we got it cleared with JB,” he added.
Since then, Derick has spoken out even more against the Duggars with YouTuber Without a Crystal Ball. And he’s spoken about writing a tell-all book.
The Duggar family Instagram wished her a happy birthday
Despite whatever is really going on with Jill and her family, the Duggar Family Instagram still gave her a shoutout for her birthday on March 17.
“Happy birthday, Jill! I remember the day you were born like it was yesterday. You were the happiest little baby, and always had a smile on your face!” the family captioned the post. And they included two childhood photos of Jill along with one more recent one featuring one of Jill’s younger siblings, Michelle, and her own kids. Oddly enough, Jim Bob is totally absent from all the photos.
“From the time you were young, you’ve always been outgoing and have made friends easily,” the caption continues. “You care deeply for others, and people feel this! You desire to share the love and hope of Christ, whether at home or on the mission field. You are a loving wife and such a fun mom to your boys. We are so grateful for you!! Happy birthday!”

It looks like Michelle may have been the one to post to the Duggar Family Instagram. Since Jim Bob was excluded from the photos, we can’t imagine he was the one responsible. As for Jill’s siblings, it doesn’t look like they put too much effort into wishing her a happy birthday, either. Jana and Jessa Duggar posted their birthday wishes to their Instagram Stories, but they seemed to be the only ones. And both sisters chose childhood photos to share instead of anything more recent.
It doesn’t look like any of the Duggars paid much attention to Derick’s birthday post dedicated to Jill on his own Instagram, either. “Happy 29th birthday to my beautiful wife @jillmdillard,” he captioned his post. “She demonstrates genuine sacrificial love like nobody I’ve ever met. I’ll love you all my days, Jill.” None of Jill’s family commented on it.
Perhaps the other Duggars are just laying low since the topic of Jill may be a sore subject after everything Derick brought to the surface. Either way, we’re hoping Jill had a great birthday and celebrated with her husband and kids!
