Jessica Alba Refused to Talk About Her History With Michael Weatherly After Marrying Cash Warren
Actor Jessica Alba used to have very little difficulty discussing her relationship with Dark Angel co-star Michael Weatherly. But this changed after another lover came into her life.
Jessica Alba didn’t want to disrespect Cash Warren by bringing up Michael Weatherly
Alba wasn’t too shy about spilling tea regarding her relationship with Weatherly back in the day. They dated for three years after meeting each other on the set of Dark Angel. Weatherly even proposed to the Sin City actor at one point. In a 2005 interview with Cosmopolitan, a candid Alba shared just how inexperienced she was during their relationship.
“It just didn’t work out. I was so young, 18, when I started dating him; I was a virgin. I knew I wanted to be in love with the first person I slept with because, for almost everyone I knew, the first experience made them feel like shit. So I wanted to be really careful that he was going to be in love with me and wasn’t just going to leave me,” she recalled.
Alba vowed to never date an actor again after Weatherly. Weatherly developed a similar philosophy, learning to never date a co-star after his debacle with Alba. Alba honored the promise she made to herself when she met Cash Warren. Although the two crossed paths on the set of Fantastic Four, Warren was a director’s assistant instead of an actor. They dated for four years starting in 2004, although they briefly broke up once during that time. Still, they’d reunite and marry in 2008. After their marriage, Alba decided that all topics regarding Weatherly were off the table.
“That’s all in the past and I think it would be disrespectful to my husband — I have to get used to calling him that — to talk about it,” she once said in another interview with Cosmopolitan (via Irish Examiner).
Michael Weatherly had no problem discussing his relationship with Jessica Alba even after marriage
Weatherly eventually found his life partner in his current wife Dr. Bojana Jankovic. The two met at a bar in Canada in 2007. They married in 2009 and share three children. Still, Weatherly didn’t have the same qualms about revisiting past relationships as Alba. In a 2010 interview with TV Guide, Weatherly shared that one story arc on his hit show NCIS even reminded him of his history with Alba.
“I remember very strongly the inevitable feeling I had about Jessica when we were doing Dark Angel because it was like I was the Millennium Falcon being sucked into the tractor beam,” Weatherly said at the time. “I didn’t feel I had any control over that part of my life. I think that the same thing does happen for Tony. … He does feel Ziva really understands him on this fundamental level that even he doesn’t quite understand.”
Jessica Alba might’ve referenced her relationship with Michael Weatherly when addressing her tattoo
Alba might’ve subtly brought up Weatherly when she was interviewed on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. There, Colbert noticed a tattoo that the Into the Blue star had on her wrist. Alba confided that she’d gotten the tattoo after her first major breakup. She didn’t mention the ex-boyfriend’s identity. However, given Alba’s limited description of the suspect, Weatherly seems like the likeliest option.
“It’s lotus in Sanskrit. It means the manifestation of spiritual beauty,” she told the talk show host about the tattoo. “He was really anti-tattoos, and I felt like after I broke up with him, I found myself again. It’s unnecessary to talk about this. He’s like a famous actor.”
