While the couple is reportedly not headed for divorce, Biel has instituted a new set of rules for her husband. She hopes these will ease the strain his arrest put on their marriage.

On June 18, police in the Hamptons’ village of Sag Harbor arrested Timberlake and charged him with impaired driving. He later pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired (DWAI), a lesser charge than driving while intoxicated (DWI). In the months since his arrest, Biel has reportedly established a list of rules for him to follow.

“She has a list of rules,” a source told Life & Style Magazine, adding, “The incident put a huge strain on the marriage.”

She reportedly wants Timberlake to step up as a parent while she continues to focus on her career.

“Jessica wants Justin’s assurances that he’ll be more supportive of her work — even if that means staying home with the kids [Silas, 9, and Phineas, 4] while she’s on a shoot,” the source said. “She’s pushing to work more and counting on Justin to pick up the slack.”

She also reportedly wants her husband to grow up and give her “more help around the house and more regular date nights. She’s been pushed to her limits by his immaturity.”

Timberlake’s arrest does not mark the first time the couple has endured relationship trouble. In 2011, after several years of dating, Biel and Timberlake called it quits.

“Addressing the media speculation regarding Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake’s relationship, we are confirming that they mutually have decided to part ways,” reps told People. “The two remain friends and continue to hold the highest level of love and respect for each other.”

Their separation did not last long, though. Later that year, the couple was spotted together in Toronto and, by December, they were engaged. They tied the knot in a quiet ceremony in Italy.

She shared how the couple makes their hard times ‘palatable’

According to Biel, she and Timberlake have put a great deal of work into their relationship.

“I’ll have to give Justin the credit in this moment for this one thing he always says to me is, ‘We might be married, but we have to keep dating,’” Biel told Entertainment Weekly. “And it’s so true, you know? You just have to keep making time for each other, and you have to keep making each other a priority. And do the things that you love together.”

She said the bright points in their marriage make all the struggles feel worth it.

“It’s not always easy, as we all know,” Biel said. “But those touch point moments, I think, kind of make all the hard times palatable.”
