Jessica Simpson has gone beyond “doing OK” amid her split from Eric Johnson. She’s reportedly focused on herself and her kids, rather than “worry[ing]” about her estranged husband. The 44-year-old is even said to be “happy and healthy” as she embarks on a new chapter of her life.

Although Simpson’s in the process of officially splitting from her husband of 10 years she’s “happy and healthy,” a source told Us Weekly. The singer-turned-fashion CEO isn’t concerning herself with what her estranged husband’s doing.

“She isn’t going to worry about [what he is doing] and is doing her thing too,” the source said. “She has her own mind, money, and family support for whatever happens.” (Simpson’s built a multi-million dollar fortune thanks to the success of her Jessica Simpson Collection brand.)

Put simply Johnson, whom Simpson met in 2010, “is not what she needs.” However, the 45-year-old former pro athlete is a “great dad” to his and Simpson’s three children: Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5. “She has the best kids and they are healthy and love is there.”

This comes after reports Simpson was “heartbroken” by the breakdown of her and Johnson’s marriage. “[It was] not an easy decision for her,” the insider said.

Things between Simpson and Johnson had reportedly been “over” for some time leading up to their split. “It’s definitely over,” a source told In Touch in November 2024. “Jessica is still adjusting to her new reality and stretching her wings.”

“The spark is just gone,” they added. “Couples counseling worked for a while. But then things went back to the way they were and they grew apart. She’s ready to start fresh.”

Changes in the “Irresistible” singer’s life, namely giving up alcohol, led her to reevaluate the marriage. “Eric was always supportive of her as she faced her addiction issues, getting sober changed a lot of her priorities,” the source continued. “She reevaluated every aspect of her life and thought about what truly brings her happiness.”

Following divorce rumors, missing wedding rings, and cryptic Instagram posts, Simpson announced her split from Johnson in a Jan. 13, 2025, statement. In it, she revealed she and the former NFL player were living apart in the lead-up to announcing their split.

“Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she said. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.”

Shortly before announcing the news, Simpson and Johnson put their family home in Hidden Hills, Calif., up for sale—the asking price is $17.9 million—after taking it off the market in August 2024.
