Jessica Simpson is ready to end the speculation about her marriage to Eric Johnson. While her fans have long suspected something wasn’t right with the pop star’s romance, both Simpson and Johnson were quiet about any marital strife. Still, there were signs that a split was imminent. Now, Simpson has revealed that her marriage to the former NFL wide receiver is coming to an end.

Jessica Simpson is over the speculation about her marriage. On Jan. 13, the songstress let TMZ in on what is going on in her life, revealing she and Eric Johnson have been living separately for some time. Simpson told the publication they were navigating a “painful situation” while spending time apart.

While Simpson confirmed the split, it does not appear that she has filed for divorce. It sounds like she and Johnson are still trying to navigate whatever situation led to the split. Simpson did not elaborate on exactly what caused the trouble.

Fans suspected Jessica Simpson’s marriage was on the rocks months ago

While Simpson opted to acknowledge the split with TMZ on Jan. 13, fans of the famed pop star have suspected something was amiss for several months. Johnson stopped appearing in Simpson’s Instagram feed many months ago.

In September, she posted a seemingly normal back-to-school photoshoot with her three children. That photo shoot, which included Simpson but not Johnson, was all the proof fans needed to assume a split had occurred. More recently, Johnson further fueled speculation when he was spotted out and about in Los Angeles without his wedding ring. Both Johnson and Simpson wore wedding bands throughout their marriage.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson’s marriage might be coming to an end, but it will likely be many months before a split is settled. After all, they have had a pretty lengthy marriage and share three minor children.

Simpson and Johnson tied the knot at a Ranch in Montecito, California, in July 2014. They had dated for several years before getting married, though. Simpson and Johnson were first spotted together in July 2010, though they had reportedly been dating for a few months at that point. They announced their engagement the same year and their first pregnancy in 2011. Their first daughter, Maxwell Drew, was born in 2012. In 2013, their son, Ace Knute, was born. Their third child, Birdie Mae, joined the family in 2018, four years after Simpson and Johnson married.
