‘Counting On’: Some Think Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard’s Recent Photo Is Subtly Hinting Jim Bob Has Completely Cut Them Off
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard have been married since 2014, and at first, everything seemed blissful. But the longer these two were out on their own, the more they realized they weren’t entirely happy with the way Duggar’s father, Jim Bob Duggar, was running things within the family.
Eventually, a rift formed between Jim Bob and the Dillards, and fans started to notice that the two weren’t spending any time with the rest of the family. And now, some critics theorize that Duggar and Dillard publicizing his Grub Hub job is the couple’s way of subtly hinting to fans that Jim Bob has entirely cut them off.
Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard seem to be at odds with her family
When Duggar and Dillard first wed, the two were the apple of Jim Bob and Michelle’s eye. Duggar was the first of the family’s daughters to get married, and Dillard had been introduced to her through her father, so it seemed like they were arguably Jim Bob’s favorite couple. However, as time went on, things changed.
In 2017, Duggar and Dillard left Counting On for reasons that still remain somewhat unknown. It was originally thought that it was due to some inappropriate tweets of Dillard’s, though Dillard has since said that it had to do with the way Jim Bob operates. Dillard hinted that Jim Bob controls the family’s money and essentially acts as the one in charge of all of his kids.
Dillard has been delivering Grub Hub for extra cash
Last year, Dillard, who was in the midst of law school at the time, started working as a Grub Hub delivery driver for extra money. Dillard wasn’t shy about his job and often posted stories and photos wearing his Grub Hub apparel. It’s possible that Dillard was looking for extra money to pay for law school, and plus, the couple had built a brand new home last year.
Fans have long speculated where the two received the money to build their home, though it’s been suspected that Jim Bob, who typically controls his kids’ finances, was the one who footed the bill. Now, though, some have theorized that Jim Bob has actually cut the Dillards off.
Some think the two are publicizing Dillard’s job to tell fans they’ve been cut off
Duggar recently posted a photo congratulating her husband on finishing up law school. She then added to the caption that she was about to join him while he works his shift as a Grub Hub delivery driver. Some followers of the show, who often criticize the family, discussed the post on a Reddit thread and came to the conclusion that the two might be flaunting Dillard’s Grub Hub job as a way of letting fans know that Jim Bob has cut them off.
“Wow. Rim Job really did cut them off,” the original poster wrote. “They want to… Subtly shame [Jim Bob] for financially punishing them. They’re making it clear to the world and to Jill’s siblings exactly what happens,” another user commented. “I have to give him credit for going to law school and actually working, outside [Jim Bob’s control… [Jim Bob] is probably livid over losing control of this particular branch of the Duggar tree,” someone else wrote.
Though it’s unclear whether Jim Bob provides financial assistance to the Dillards or not, it is clear that Dillard is willing to do whatever he has to in order to make ends meet for his family.
