Jill Duggar Said She Hoped Her Kids Could Be Friends With Jessa Duggar’s Kids for the ‘Rest of Their Lives’ Prior to Family Tension
There’s a lot going on for Jill Duggar in 2020. At the end of 2019, her husband, Derick Dillard, started speaking out on her behalf regarding how she’s taking a step back from her famous family. And now, Jill’s the one telling her followers what’s going on via her YouTube channel.
While Jill still sees her sisters, we’re not exactly sure where their relationship stands now. And we can’t forget the time Jill said she hopes her kids and Jessa Duggar’s kids will be friends for life.
Jill Duggar recently revealed some of her siblings don’t love all the changes she’s making to her life
Jill and Derick decided to stop filming TLC’s Counting On a few years back, and it’s clear she’s making additional changes to her life as well. Derick’s spilled the tea to news outlets and explained Jill’s really on the outs with her father, Jim Bob Duggar. But Jill also revealed via her YouTube channel that she also struggles with her relationships with a few of her siblings.
“Are they supportive? Not always,” Jill explained. “Everybody’s gonna have their opinion about different things. I feel like some of my siblings are probably more like, have something to say about it than others.”
While Jill reiterated that many of her siblings aren’t “cool” with how she’s living her life, she has several family members who are “more cool with it than others.” Either way, she’s happy with the path she’s chosen, and she wants to stay genuine to herself.
Jill once said she hoped her children and Jessa Duggar’s children would be lifelong friends
Prior to Jill’s departure from Counting On, she and Jessa were quite close. And a TLC clip from 2016 shows Jessa (and a number of other Duggars) visiting Jill when Jill and Derick were in Central America. This proved to be a big moment for the Duggars, as Jill and Jessa’s sons who are about the same age, Israel and Spurgeon, met for the first time.
“I was definitely most excited to see Jill,” Jessa shared with the camera. “But, it was also super exciting to see Izzy, how much he’s grown. He’s such a big kid now!”Jessa then noted that she felt “sad” that she missed out on so much of Israel’s growing, but she was “looking forward to catching up.”
“I’ve been telling Jessa for awhile that I can’t wait to squish Spurgeon because he’s so chubby,” Jill told the cameras. And it seemed like Israel adored Spurgeon, as he kept kissing his cousin.
“It’s so sweet to see them beginning their relationship as cousins,” Jill added. “I hope that this will just continue for the rest of their lives.”
Jill’s already raising her kids differently than Jessa is raising hers
While Jessa and Jill’s kids are close in age, they’re being raised way differently. Jessa is choosing to homeschool her children, as that’s how she was raised. But Jill made the giant leap into the public school system. She announced to Instagram that Israel would be entering public kindergarten, and she’s excited for her kids to have a different experience in schooling than she did.
“Happy first day of school for these two!” Jill captioned her Instagram post of Israel and Derick on Aug. 24. “1st day of Kindergarten for Israel and 1st day of last year of law school for Derick!”
We’re not sure how Jessa feels about Jill’s choice. But so far, it doesn’t look like any other Duggars are following in Jill’s footsteps. In any case, we’ll be curious to see how Jill’s parenting continues to differ from her siblings’.
