Jill Duggar Stands Apart From Her Family Once Again With Her ‘Black Lives Matter’ Post
Those who follow the Duggars know Jill Duggar and her husband, Derick Dillard, have taken a giant leap away from Jill’s famous family. At the end of 2019, Dillard told his Instagram followers that he and Jill rarely see her family, as they can only visit Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s home with Jim Bob’s permission. Not only that, but Dillard has also threatened to write a tell-all book, and he continues to speak out against the family and TLC.
Jill’s stayed quiet for the most part. But she’s definitely given some indicators that she doesn’t stand with her family. And she’s also become the only one of the Duggars to mention ‘Black Lives Matter’ on her Instagram. Here’s what everyone noticed.
A number of Duggars added blackout posts in solidarity with the ‘Black Lives Matter’ movement
The Duggars aren’t known for diversity and inclusion, and it certainly took them longer than other celebrity families to make any remarks on the death of George Floyd. But, as social pressures mount and the protests increase nationwide, family members have finally started creating Instagram posts in solidarity with Floyd. But none of the posts seem to reference the “Black Lives Matter” movement.
The Duggar Family Instagram created a blackout post on June 2. They overlaid the text, “Image of God,” over the top and added the caption, “Made in the image of God. Psalm 8:3-5 #georgefloyd.” Jessa Duggar added the same post to her Instagram, as did Jinger.
Anna Duggar also posted a blackout image to her Instagram and referenced Floyd’s death as well. “I cannot imagine what his family is going through right now. Our family is praying for God’s peace to surround them — and all who are hurting — may God bring healing and peace to our nation!” she captioned her post.
Jeremy Vuolo shared a sermon about current events without mentioning the movement
Jinger’s husband, Jeremy Vuolo, shared his own sermon regarding current events. He referenced the chaos and destruction in the nation with a 20-minute speech posted to Instagram.
“I’ve been wanting to take the last days to listen. It’s been very important to hear the thoughts of others,” Vuolo began. “I’ve been wanting to be slow to speak to the situation which unfolded last week.”
While Vuolo made an effort to talk about love and inclusion for all, he never once mentioned the “Black Lives Matter” movement, which is what the protests are currently all about. And Reddit users have had enough.
“Just got off that pathetic ig live sermon he did. He couldn’t even say Black Lives Matter or openly condemn police brutality, despite numerous comments urging him to do so,” a Reddit user commented. “All he gave us was some phony theatrical alligator tears and empty-sounding pleas to ‘turn to Jesus’ and ‘come together with our fellow citizens.’ Literally useless.”
Jill Duggar is the only one to reference ‘Black Lives Matter’
It looks like Jill is the one leading the way with actually referencing “Black Lives Matter” in her supportive post. She added a graphic to her Instagram Story showing a white woman wearing a “Black Lives Matter” T-shirt linking arms with a black woman wearing an “I can’t breathe” T-shirt. “I see you. I hear you. I stand with you,” the graphic notes.
“The only thing I can snark on is she just blew her sisters out of the water,” one Reddit user noted of the post.
“And didn’t mention God, Jesus or a misplaced Bible verse. She didn’t make it religious or all lives matter,” another wrote. “I really hesitate to say it’s progress, but that’s more than her family members.”
“She is the only Duggar to make a supportive social media post that actually says the words it needs to say without making it all about some other agenda. Good on you, Jill,” yet another added.
Will any of Jill’s siblings follow suit? We’ll have to wait and see.
