He eventually succumbed to the pressure and started Garoppolo in the final five games of the season. He finished the year with seven touchdowns and 1,500 yards passing.

Based on his performance, Garoppolo went on to sign one of the biggest contracts in the NFL in a deal that was criticized by some analysts.
