Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines isn’t only interested in having homes be their best, inside out. She wants to do the same with kids and her new children’s book expresses just that.

The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be is the latest publication by the mother of five. Her new title helps parents teach their children to see they each have something to offer the world, in a unique way worth cheering about.

Gaines’ message is important for adults, too

Joanna Gaines, 42, and her husband, Chip, 45, have five children: Drake, 15; Ella Rose, 13; Duke, 12; Emmie Kay, 10; and the youngest, Crew, who just turned 2 recently.

The author shared with Darling, in 2018 her firm belief that each of us is on this planet with particular purpose and talents to share. Her statement is clearly a preview of the thoughts the author shares in her new book for children, perhaps something that has been brewing for a while.

“You think beauty is confidence,” she said, “you think what you have is confidence … when really confidence is a mindset of, ‘I am created to do what I do, to be the best at what I can.’ It doesn’t come from your giftings and talents, it comes from knowing who you are and that there’s a purpose for your life.”

Gaines’ previous children’s book – ‘We Are The Gardeners’

The co-owner of Magnolia market isn’t new to the children’s publishing game. Her latest book is her second one for kids. Gaines wrote in 2019, with the help of her own youngsters, her first children’s book, We Are The Gardeners.

The Magnolia website said of the book, “In We Are the Gardeners, Joanna and the kids chronicle the adventures of starting their own family garden. There are always new lessons waiting to be learned in the garden!”

Gaines said in a press release at the time that “my kids have come to love spending time in the garden just as much as I do. It can be a great teacher, if we pause long enough to notice all there is to learn. . .This book is our way of sharing what the garden means to us, and the many adventures we’ve had along the way!”

The message of Gaines’ new children’s book

As for The World Needs Who You Were Made To Be, Gaines explained in her Magnolia blog why she decided to write her new book. It’s a story of a group of kids building hot air balloons to fill the sky with color and beauty. The children collaborate together and learn that each other’s strengths are what can uniquely make their exciting day a success.

“One of my greatest joys as a mother has been to watch [my children] grow and change and become who they are,” she wrote. “My hope is for each of them to know, deep in their bones, that who they are is good, and that the differences that they see in each other and in themselves are to be celebrated.”

The World Needs Who You Were Made To Be publishes on November 10, 2020.
