Joanna Gaines doesn’t have the fanciest or most elaborate recipes. The Fixer Upper star got famous hosting her hit show on HGTV but has since expanded her expertise to include other talents. Most recently, Gaines has been showing off her cooking skills on the Discovery+ series, Magnolia Table with Joanna Gaines.

The 42-year-old mother of five knows that fans are seeking Super Bowl party recipes that are quick, easy, and delicious. Her latest Magnolia Table episode gave those viewers exactly what they wanted.

‘Magnolia Table’ came under fire for being too basic

In general, cooking shows have gotten more casual over the years, which led to the rise of unique celebrity chefs from Chrissy Teigen to Guy Fieri. Now Gaines is contributing some basic family recipes that are beloved but not necessarily groundbreaking.

And Gaines even admitted as much during a promo for the show. “If you’re looking to learn how to cut things, this is not the show for you,” she said in the Magnolia Table trailer. Her show is for cooking amateurs, not advanced level chefs.

There are certain situations when simple beats complicated. And the 2021 Super Bowl is one of those times. Many people are canceling or limiting gatherings because of the global pandemic. However, even a toned down game day celebration still needs snacks.

On the fourth episode of Magnolia Table, the Fixer Upper alum shares some incredible recipes that will please every palate. First, her kids help whip up French onion dip, which she puts together with sautéed onions, sour cream, mayonnaise, and herbs. Gaines recommends potato chips, carrots, celery, and bread for dipping.

Next up Gaines serves Philly cheesesteaks with sautéed bell peppers, onions, and melted provolone as the main course. And on the side, it’s Hasselback potatoes. That’s a lot of food but there’s always room for dessert. Gaines recommends peanut butter brownies as a sweet finish.

Magnolia Table isn’t the only place to find scrumptious game day recipes. Other celebrity chefs have been sharing their top picks for Super Bowl menu additions and most are easy to recreate at home.

Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives star Fieri recommends making sliders using King’s Hawaiian bread as the base. In general, he advocates putting together familiar ingredients in new ways rather than shopping for all new groceries.

Meanwhile, Barefoot Contessa host Ina Garten shared a Pan-Fried Onion Dip recipe in 2020 that’s similar to the one Gaines came up with. Who doesn’t like dip at a Super Bowl party?

And finally, cookbook author Teigen has a spread that will feed the hungriest football fans. She plans on serving some combination of wings, cheesy guacamole, pizza dip, mini sandwiches, and husband John Legend’s famous Chili and Frito Pie Bar.

No matter who wins the big game, at least it will be one delicious day.
