Jodie Turner-Smith Says Her Romance With Joshua Jackson Began With a ‘One-Night Stand’
Most modern-day celebrity relationships begin with a simple DM on social media or a blind date set up by mutual friends. But not Jodie Turner-Smith and Joshua Jackson’s.
In a new interview, the Queen & Slim star opened up about how she first met and fell in love with her husband — and the story is just as iconic as you would expect.

While appearing on an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers on May 4, Turner-Smith opened up about her and Jackson’s romance, which, according to her, was not meant to last very long.
“So when I first met my husband, it was kind of—we had a one-night stand,” the Tom Clancy’s Without Remorse actor said.
Turner-Smith then recalled how she and the Dawson’s Creek star first crossed paths while out at a party.
“First of all, I saw him before he saw me and when I saw him, I was like, ‘I want that,” she shared. “And then when he saw me, I just pretended like I didn’t see him. He had to yell across the room to me, and I was wearing this T-shirt from a movie called Sorry to Bother You and [actor] Tessa Thompson plays a character called Detroit, and she has this T-shirt that says, ‘The Future is Female Ejaculation.'”
According to the actor, the t-shirt was what ultimately helped kick off her budding romance with Jackson.
“And so he shouts across the room, ‘Detroit!'” she explained. “He comes over and… does this really cute, charming thing that he does and just all night— he just basically followed me around the party.”

In addition to sharing how she met the Dawson’s Creek star, Turner-Smith also shared the story of how her friends ransacked his closet earlier on in their relationship.
“He had invited me to stay at his apartment when he was not there. And I went there, and it was my birthday. I bought a bunch of my girlfriends with me, and, of course, the day after my birthday, there was a raiding of the closet,” she told Meyers. “I know that one of these friends of mine stole his Late Night with Seth Meyers t-shirt. So he told me that I have to get him a shirt.”
After expressing how much Jackson needs another t-shirt, Meyers gifted Turner-Smith one, which she expressed immense gratitude over.
“Thank god, because if I went home empty-handed, it would be a really uncomfortable night,” she said.
Turner-Smith and Meyers then went on to talk about Dawson’s Creek, which she admitted to being a fan of as a kid.
“Let’s be real, who wasn’t Team Pacey?” the actor quipped with a grin.

Though they’ve been married since 2019 after first being linked in 2018, Turner-Smith says she and Jackson are “in a two, three-year one-night stand now.”
All in all, the celebrities still have a beautiful relationship, and Turner-Smith knows just how lucky she is to call Jackson her husband.
“I’m really in love with my husband. That might be weird for people, but I’m doing a pretty good job of not shouting that from the rooftops as much as I would like to,” the British actor previously told Net-A-Porter of Jackson, with whom she welcomed a daughter in April 2020. “He’s a really amazing dude… It’s only gotten better and I feel so grateful for that.”
She added, “That’s why I share it sometimes, because I love him, I think he’s hot, I think he’s smart and he’s incredibly talented. I feel so lucky to be in a relationship with somebody who feels the same about me, who is not shy about telling me that or uplifting me.”
