Joe Rogan was born in 1967 in Newark, New Jersey. As a child, Rogan moved around a lot, spending time in California, Florida, and finally, Massachusetts. Rogan was athletic as a young man and got involved in baseball before deciding that martial arts appealed to him most. Rogan eventually went professional as a martial arts expert, and to this day, is a vocal proponent of the benefits of martial arts.

After a brief stint as a stand-up comedian, Rogan began working in television as an actor, appearing on TV shows like NewsRadio. In the early 2000s, Rogan landed a gig as the host of Fear Factor.

The role made Rogan popular with a large audience, and it is widely credited as the vehicle that initially thrust him to fame. In 2009, Rogan launched The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, a free podcast that was unlike anything else.
