John and Abbie Duggar of ‘Counting On’ Welcome Daughter Grace Annette
Congratulations are in order! John and Abbie Duggar have welcomed their first child, a girl named Grace Annette.
The baby was born Tuesday, Jan 7. She weighed 7 lbs., 15 oz., and was 20¾ inches long. The Counting On couple, who married in November 2018, shared the happy news on Instagram.
John and Abbie Duggar say they’re ‘smitten’ with their new daughter
John, 29, and Abbie, 27, are over the moon about their new baby, who they’ve already nicknamed Gracie. Grace is also Abbie’s middle name.
“We are quite smitten by our new bundle of joy and are soaking in all of her little newborn snuggles!” they wrote on Instagram.
Friends and family rushed to congratulate the pair. John’s younger sister Jill shared her well wishes, as did Josiah and Lauren Duggar, who commented that Grace “is the cutest.”
John’s parents Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar also shared the news. “We’re so excited to welcome John and Abbie’s precious new baby into the family!” they wrote in their Instagram post.
No more Duggar babies for a while
John and Abbie’s bundle of joy is the last of five Duggar grandchildren to be born in the past year — and all of them have been girls.
Jessa Duggar gave birth to her third child, a daughter Ivy Jane, in May 2019. Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell welcomed baby no. 2, a girl named Addison Renee, on Nov. 2. Just a few days later on Nov. 8, Lauren gave birth to Bella Milagro, her first child with Josiah. Finally, on Nov. 27, Josh Duggar’s wife Anna gave birth to her sixth child, a girl named Maryella Hope.
But Grace Annette will be the last Duggar baby born for a while. No other women in the family have publicly announced pregnancies. Even if someone is pregnant and hasn’t announced yet, it would likely be another six months or so before the baby is born.
Is Jinger Duggar pregnant?
With many of her sisters and sisters-in-law having given birth recently, all eyes are on Jinger Duggar as the member of the family most likely to announce a pregnancy in the near future. Fans have already started to speculate that the 26-year-old is expecting again.
Jinger, who moved to California in 2019 with her husband Jeremy Vuolo and their daughter Felicity, recently told Counting On producers that she might have another child, though she was quick to clarify that she wasn’t making a pregnancy announcement. And some people have theorized that the mom of one is hiding a baby bump in her Instagram photos.
Jeremy Vuolo shuts down baby rumors
But Jinger’s husband shot down the idea that his wife is currently pregnant with a funny reply to a comment on a Christmas Instagram post.
“Are you pregnant?” one commenter asked. Jeremy replied with a comment that’s since been deleted, writing, “I’m not, but now I know I need to lay off the Christmas cookies.”
Jinger and Jeremy got married in November 2016 and Felicity arrived in July 2018. That’s a relatively long gap between baby and wedding, at least by Duggar standards. It’s been about a year and a half since Felicity was born, but for the time being, the couple appear to be focusing on their adorable daughter and their new life in Los Angeles.
