John Corbett set the internet on fire in April 2021 when he said he’d be returning for the Sex and the City reboot. Corbett portrayed Aidan Shaw in the original film and then reprised the role in Sex and the City 2. His admission sent fans of the series down a road of wild theories. Several months into filming, Corbett appears to be a no-show in And Just Like That…, and fans can’t help but wonder what happened there. Either Corbett was kidding all along, or his inclusion is being kept super-secret now that the project is in production.

John Corbett said he would be a part of ‘And Just Like That…’ back in April 2021

In January 2021, HBO Max announced a reboot of Sex and the City. Fans were thrilled by the news, but after the initial announcement, things fell quiet. Information about the reboot started trickling out in April. Corbett was one of the first people to kick the rumor mill into hyperdrive.

In an interview with Page Six, Corbett said that he was going to do the show. When the publication quizzed him about his involvement, he said he thought he’d be in “quite a few episodes.’ The news set off a bevy of reactions across the internet. Fans of the furniture designer were excited to see a second romance between Carrie and her ex-fiance. Those on team Mr. Big were dismayed at the notion that Carrie and Mr. Big might be no more. That concern might have been all for naught.

John Corbett has not been seen on the set of ‘And Just Like That…’ just yet

While HBO Max has not shared an official wrap date for the filming of And Just Like That…, fans who have been following the production assume the cast is just finishing up the series. It’s already October, after all. If things are winding down, the inclusion of Corbett’s famed character seems unlikely.

Filming of the series began in July. Along the way, Fans have spotted Bridget Moynahan on the set of the series. Photographers captured Julie Halston, Mario Cantone, and the late Willie Garson on the streets of New York City, too. Even Chris Noth, who portrayed Mr. Big, finally materialized. Still, Corbett has been a no-show. With filming seemingly wrapping up, it’s becoming increasingly more likely that Corbett actually won’t be reprising his role in the Sex and the City reboot. To be fair, though, it’s also possible that he is involved in indoor scenes, and the production team is keeping it all under wraps. Time will only tell, but all evidence points to a total absence of Aidan.

Sarah Jessica Parker would neither confirm nor deny his inclusion in the ‘Sex and the City’ reboot

Corbett was happy to discuss his involvement openly, but his famed co-star, Sarah Jessica Parker, was not. Long before fans noticed his absence on the set of And Just Like That…, Parker offered fans a non-answer about Aidan’s inclusion in the series. Parker commented on an Instagram post by Every Outfit on Sex and the City regarding Corbett’s announcement. In the comment section, she said, “I’m not saying one way or another whether our beloved Mr. Corbett’s interview deals in facts or fiction but the response is amazing to read…”

To be fair, Parker didn’t exactly say he wouldn’t be in the reboot, but it is one of the very few posts about the upcoming reboot that she’s felt the need to comment on. If Corbett is joining the cast, it is likely to be a small cameo instead of a leading role. After all, HBO Max is planning for a December 2021 release of the limited series. If Corbett is going to be included, he’ll need to show up on set pretty soon.
