John Corbett and Sarah Jessica Parker played on-screen lovers in season 3 and season 4 of Sex and the City. Their characters, Aidan Shaw and Carrie Bradshaw, almost rekindled things in the heavily criticized movie, Sex and the City 2. Carrie ran off before anything major could happen, and John Corbett thinks that was a mistake. He believes the moment was way too tame, and he has a point.

John Corbett says ‘Sex and the City 2’ moment between Carrie and Aidan was too ‘high school’

While fans welcomed Aidan’s return to the Sex and the City franchise, the storyline has been largely criticized as far-fetched and, frankly, boring. Corbett doesn’t seem to disagree.

In an interview with the Daily News in 2019, Corbett said he thought the storyline was too tame for the audience. If anything, he felt the former flames should have taken the action all the way. He told the publication, “I actually think they should’ve f—-d.” Corbett explained his reasoning further. He said, “I thought the kissing was a little high school, you know, for that audience. I think that she should’ve just done a full-on adulterous cheat.”

The flick also left the storyline a bit open. There was never any follow-up with Aidan, that’s for sure. The kiss also seemed to cause more drama in Carrie and Mr. Big’s relationship than it really should have, considering all that happened in Sex and the City.

So what ever became of the furniture designer? We just don’t know. It might not be the end of Aidan’s story, though. Fans do have an opportunity to perhaps find out.

‘And Just Like That…’ fans want to see Aidan Shaw in season 2 of the HBO Max reboot

And Just Like That… writers could rectify Aidan’s boring send-off in Sex and the City 2 if they wanted to. Fans would love to see John Corbett return to play the character in the second season of the HBO Max reboot. With Mr. Big gone for good, the return of Aidan might be comforting. After all, behind Mr. Big, he was Carrie’s most significant relationship.

It’s hard to say if romance would bloom between the pair if he does show up in season 2, though. When season 1 of the HBO Max hit ended, Carrie was seen kissing her podcast producer. Fans identified the character as a potential love interest for Carrie early on in the season. He will likely become Carrie’s next big love if everything works out.

That doesn’t mean Aidan couldn’t possibly compete, though. First, Aidan would need to be single and ready to mingle unless the series wants to explore another affair storyline. When fans last left him, he was married with three children.
