John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn’s divorce ended what was once Hollywood’s hottest couple. The Full House alum and the former Victoria’s Secret Model had a whirlwind romance. They seemed to be the definition of “opposites attract.”
Their seven-year marriage seemed picturesque, with Romijn transitioning from a model into a full-time actor with roles in the X-Men franchise and Ugly Betty. However, the romance ended rather abruptly and seemingly out of nowhere.

After three years of dating, the pair got engaged on Christmas Eve 1997. They had just finished a couple’s massages when Stamos got down on one knee completely in the nude.
It was clearly a spur-of-the-moment decision because he popped the question with a cigar band, eventually swapping it for a four-carat emerald-cut Boucheron diamond in a platinum setting.
They went on to tie the knot in 1998 at the Beverly Hills Hotel with everyone from Tyra Banks, Heidi Klum, The Beach Boys’ Brian Wilson, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Bob Saget, David Spade, and Rob Schneider in attendance.

However, by the time X-Men 2 debuted in 2003, the marriage was over. “You know what was funny about that night, the premiere of X-Men 2. We went to that together, but we had already been split up for like 6 months, I just couldn’t say anything,” the Grandfathered star explained.
When the Fuller House star filed for divorce in 2005 citing “irreconcilable differences,” there were rumors that they could not agree on having children. However, they have both refuted the claims. In the end, their marriage just stopped working and they decided to walk away.
Both actors have expressed how challenging that time was for them, but they’ve never had an feelings toward each other.
How did John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn meet?
The actor and model met in 1994 at a Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Stamos was in the audience while Romijn was strutting down the runway. The duo had their first official date at Disneyland, and just a few short months afterward, they were officially an item.
Stamos and Romijn were picture-perfect, but the Star Trek star also explained that they were exact opposites. “[We’re] really Dharma and Greg,” she explained via The Things. “John’s VERY conservative, and honestly, I’m better with the [tabloid] rumors than he is. He gets really upset. He balances me out.”
Romijn also praised her then-husband for supporting her during her transition from modeling to acting. “John was so helpful, especially in the beginning…really supportive,” she said. “He was like, ‘Be prepared for everyone to hate you…’ He taught me how to tap into comedy.”
Now, Romijn has been married to actor Jerry O’Connell since 2007. She gave birth to twin daughters in 2008.
Stamos has been married to writer/actor Caitlin McHugh since February 2018. The couple welcomed a son in April of the same year.
