Jon Gosselin Claimed Kate Gosselin Left Their Son, Collin, ‘Caged’ in a Facility for 3 Years
We remember when Jon and Kate Gosselin were known for their hit reality TV series, Jon & Kate Plus 8. Unfortunately, the ex-couple’s now known for the drama that ensued once their divorce hit the news. Jon and Kate became infamous for their messy split involving their eight children. And while they’ve since gone their separate ways, they’re still fighting legal battles over the kids. The Gosselin family is proving they’re more divided than ever.
Two of the sextuplets, Hannah and Collin, now live under Jon’s roof, while four of the other sextuplets live with Kate (the twins are now in college). While Jon typically keeps to himself, a recent interview revealed new details regarding Collin’s stay in a separate facility. And Jon’s claims are more shocking than ever.
Kate Gosselin claimed Collin was the troubled child of the family
If there’s any Gosselin child who’s known for giving Kate trouble, it’s Collin. Back in 2016, Kate opened up to People about Collin’s alleged “special needs” that required a ton of outside help from professionals. “Collin has special needs. [There’s] a fairly fluid diagnosis of what those needs are, but he needs to learn certain strategies to help him deal with things. This has been a struggle we’ve had for a very long time, and it’s one I’ve dealt with on my own,” she told the publication.
Kate then went on to explain that due to his needs, she enrolled him in a program to help “him learn the skills he needs to be the best him he can be.” And while she noted she missed him dearly, she also claimed he was exactly where he needed to be at the time.
We also can’t forget that Kate discussed Collin’s troubles in her book, I Just Want You to Know. “As you have grown, however, I must say you have also challenged my authority greatly. … You continue to be determined to do what you want to do, and I continue to try to rein you in,” she wrote.
Jon Gosselin claimed Kate never told him she sent Collin to a facility
At the end of 2018, Jon attained custody over Collin after Kate failed to show up to court. According to Jon, Collin wished to live with him after he finished up his stint in the facility anyway. But now, Jon recently came forward with more information regarding Collin and his kids during an interview with DailyMailTV.
According to Jon, “She always speaks for the children. They say this, they want to do this – unicorns, rainbows and look, flying pigs. It’s all lies. They all have voices.” In regards to Collin, he also stated Kate sent Collin away to a behavioral unit in Philadelphia without ever notifying him. Jon said he received a letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services that said they suspected Collin experienced child abuse and that they were investigating the situation. Unfortunately, Kate allegedly wouldn’t tell Jon where Collin was.
Not only that, but Jon says Collin was kept “caged” in the facility for three years with Kate only visiting their son three times total. Jon eventually fully learned of Collin’s situation after Collin’s older roommate smuggled a letter out from the child written to Jon that pleaded for escape.
Fans think Collin looks better than ever with Jon
Jon continued on in the interview explaining that Collin now experiences PTSD. And it seems Hannah, the only other child to live with Jon, also has similar trauma from her time under Kate’s roof. “‘I know my children have suffered abuse and I know one day they’re going to tell their own story,” Jon said in the interview. “And sadly enough, I know what PTSD is. It’s really upsetting.”
Jon can’t erase any family trauma, but he can do his best to give the two kids who’ve chosen to live with him a better life now. And fans adore how happy Hannah and Collin look now that they’re under his care. “Colin and Hannah look so happy to be with you Jon. I am happy for you [sic],” one of Jon’s Instagram followers commented on this Instagram post of Jon, Hannah, Collin, and Jon’s girlfriend. Another added, “You four look so happy and I’m thrilled that Hannah and Colin are finally content and happy with you Jon [sic].”
