Jordyn Woods Says She Wants the Music Industry To ‘Give Me a Shot’ Following Her ‘the Masked Singer’ Appearance

Jordyn Woods says she has much more talent within her since surprising her fans on The Masked Singer. 

In Season 3 of the hit Fox show, viewers watched as Woods announced she was the kangaroo in episode 11. The reveal came as a shock to Woods’ fans, who didn’t see Woods perform music publicly before. Woods is most known for being the former best friend of Kylie Jenner and being at the center of the Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson scandal in February 2019.

The Masked Singer allows celebrities to dress up in costumes and masks and sing on-stage as viewers guess to see who’s behind the disguise. Some of the celebrity appearances have been Patti LaBelle, Wendy Williams, T-Pain, and the Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kandi Burruss. In April 2020, the show returned for a third season, and the kangaroo turned out to be one of the show’s most talked-about contestants. They played songs like Robyn’s “Dancing on My Own” before being eliminated from the competition. When the judges eliminated kangaroo, host Nick Cannon congratulated Woods for making it as far as she did on the show. 

Shortly after her elimination, Woods spoke to Entertainment Weekly about her experience on The Masked Singer. Woods said due to the show requiring contestants to sign non-disclosure agreements once they join the competition, only her immediate family knew she was the kangaroo. However, she said her friends congratulated her via text, as they could hear that it was her voice behind the mask. 

Woods also said executives mentioned the idea of her releasing a debut album was after her reveal. Before The Masked Singer, Woods never felt comfortable singing publicly. Now that she’s done it already, she said fans can expect to see a new musical side of her in the future. 

“Even after I got kicked off the show, the judges were saying the same thing. ‘This is going to be life-changing for you. I hope you’re ready, and I hope you keep making music or you start making music,’” Woods said of her music career. “I don’t know what to expect. I think life’s about not having expectations, but I think that this just shows a whole different side of me that people didn’t even know existed. And that’s a cool part of me being on the show because the world is finding out something new.”

After Woods appeared on The Masked Singer, her fans saw that she had a hidden musical talent. Before the show, Woods said she worked with a vocal coach over the last five years and was planning on taking her music more seriously. However, although Woods is a prominent figure and has friends in the music industry like Megan Thee Stallion and Jaden Smith, Woods said she hasn’t spoken to any music executives regarding a deal. Woods said she hopes someone in the music industry plans to ‘give me a shot’ at creating music soon. 

“When it comes to recording and making any music, it is not happening currently,” Woods said.
