Josh Duggar to Celebrate Holidays Without Other Inmates and Eat by Himself in Jail After Guilty Verdict
Josh Duggar’s trial ended in December 2021 after several long days of evidence and testimonies. In April 2021, Josh was arrested on suspicion of downloading and obtaining child sexual abuse material. During the trial, he was found guilty of the crimes. He spent Christmas in jail as he awaits sentencing, and he reportedly doesn’t get to spend any of the holidays around other inmates. Here’s what’s going on.
Josh Duggar’s trial ended with a guilty verdict, and he now awaits sentencing
Josh Duggar’s trial cast a negative light on the Duggar family as a whole. And the family dealt with troubles in the past related to Josh. During the trial, the prosecution presented substantial evidence to suggest Josh downloaded child sexual abuse material to a computer found at his workplace, Wholesale Motorcars. While Josh’s defense tried to argue that others could’ve downloaded the material, the jury served a guilty verdict.
A number of Duggar family members attended the trial, too. Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna Duggar stood by his side the whole time. Joy-Anna Duggar, Jessa Duggar, Jim Bob Duggar, James Duggar, Justin Duggar, Jill Duggar, and others also attended various days.
Now, Josh awaits sentencing after the outcome of the trial. He resides in the Washington County Detention Center in Arkansas for now.
The Duggar family member must celebrate the holidays completely alone in jail, a source explains
According to The Sun, Josh Duggar is held in solitary confinement while he awaits sentencing, meaning he doesn’t have any interaction with other inmates. “Josh is cordoned off from the general population,” a source from the detention center explained. “He is in a holding cell by himself. We do this for every sex offender. We are holding him separately for his own safety.”
Unfortunately for Josh, the rules of solitary confinement also apply during the holidays. Josh ate his Christmas meal of “turkey and gravy, candied carrots, mashed potatoes, a roll with margarine, and a spice cake” completely by himself, another source told The Sun.
“People in solitary do not get to eat with others,” the source added. “They get served alone in their cell, but they get the same food everyone else does.”
The source noted the jail also doesn’t have special decor for the holiday season, but even if they did, Josh wouldn’t see it.
It seems the same rules will apply for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day as well.
Does Josh Duggar’s family support him after the guilty verdict?
Where does the Duggar family stand after Josh Duggar’s guilty verdict? A number of the Duggars made public statements, including Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, stating they’re praying for the victims as well as Anna Duggar. Anna has yet to make any public statements.
“The family prayed and prayed, but also braced themselves for the worst,” an insider told In Touch. “[Michelle Duggar] and [Jim Bob Duggar] are trying to stay strong, praying for Josh, [Anna Duggar], and their grandkids. The family is rallying, but some of the kids can’t forgive their brother Josh for what he did. They’re horrified that he didn’t get help sooner.”
