Josh Duggar news continues to take over the Duggar family spotlight as Counting On fans await more information on his case. In April 2021, federal agents arrested Josh Duggar on suspicion of downloading child sexual abuse content. Now, his defense put forth a request for the witnesses who will give their testimonies. Furthermore, the prosecutors have a request, too — and it’s about a certain individual’s bank records. Here’s what’s going on.
Josh Duggar’s legal team has a few requests for the case’s witnesses
The latest Josh Duggar news contains information about the witnesses. Court documents supplied by Reddit users remind us Josh faces a two-count charge — one for receipt of child pornography, and another for possession of child pornography. According to recent documents, Josh pleads not guilty to both counts. Now, witnesses will get involved. And the defense has a request for the witnesses.
The court documents note the defense wants the witnesses to not be able to hear the other witnesses’ testimonies. “Duggar also respectfully requests that this Court’s order also prohibit the Government and/or its witnesses from talking to witnesses who are sequestered about the trial or other witnesses’ testimony prior to or during their testimony,” the court documents read.
Why does the defense want this? It seems they believe this will “aid in the detection of dishonesty.” Otherwise, witnesses could potentially tailor their statements and get away with possible crimes.
Josh Duggar news: Prosecutors want to see an individual’s bank records
Recent Josh Duggar news notes the prosecution has a request for a witness as well. According to KNWA Fox24, the Western District of Arkansas is giving the prosecution the opportunity to request the bank records of an individual. This can potentially prove the individual in question was not in Arkansas when the child sexual abuse material crimes occurred. The court order from Judge Timothy Brooks requires the prosecution produce the bank records by Nov. 15, 2021.
It seems the prosecutors suggest the man in question was in Missouri at the time the crimes took place in 2019. This means he could not have committed the crimes that took place in Arkansas at Wholesale Motorcars, Josh’s place of work. The bank records are “relevant for the Government’s case as they affirmatively exclude (the witness) from Wholesale Motors and (the) state of Arkansas on the dates in question.”
Additionally, the prosecution noted they believed the defense would suggest others aside from Josh could’ve downloaded the child sexual abuse content on his computer. This helps to further rule this out.
When is Josh Duggar’s trial?
Did Josh Duggar take a plea deal? The recent Josh Duggar news seems to suggest he didn’t. This likely means he’s headed to trial. Currently, Josh Duggar’s trial is set for Nov. 30, 2021. If found guilty, he could face up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 for each count.
As for the rest of the Duggar family, they no longer have Counting On, but they keep fans and follwers updated regarding what they’re up to. Jim Bob Duggar recently announced his run for a seat in the Arkansas State Senate. Josh Duggar’s trial may put a damper on his run, of course. But the Duggar patriarch continues to charge on.
As for Josh Duggar’s wife, Anna Duggar, some believe she already had their seventh child. She has yet to make an official announcement online.
