Josh Duggar’s trial concluded with a guilty verdict for two counts of obtaining child sexual abuse material on Dec. 9, 2021. The Duggar family TV star then went into solitary confinement for his crimes at an Arkansas jail.

So, what occurred? According to the evidence, investigators located child sexual abuse material on a computer at Josh’s workplace, Wholesale Motorcars, in Arkansas. Josh’s legal team denied that he downloaded the material, and they even suggested prosecutors should investigate others who worked there. Unfortunately for Josh and his family, his defense didn’t hold up. The Sun reports Josh remained “teary-eyed but not crying” when the case concluded.

Josh currently awaits sentencing for his crimes. According to ABC News, sentencing happens in April 2022. Josh potentially faces up to 20 years in prison and $250,000 in fines.

The Duggar family member will allegedly be separated from other inmates in prison

While Josh Duggar trial results leave him awaiting sentencing, he currently resides in Washington County Jail in Arkansas. The Duggar family can call into the jail and speak with him for a fee, and they can also send him snacks. But circumstances will likely change after sentencing.

According to The Sun, when Josh moves to federal prison, he’ll reside with others who are in for similar crimes. Beverly Hills attorney Adam Michael Sacks told the publication this rule stands for Josh’s protection.

“If you’re a sex offender and they put you in the population with the normal prisoners, you’ll be attacked in an hour,” the attorney said. “ … For his own protection, there is a separate part of the jail and he would have more limitations. He won’t be playing tennis or doing activities. It’s a different experience. It’s not as extreme as solitary confinement, but a lot of these jails don’t let you go out much.”

The attorney also thinks Josh should expect a serious sentence for his crimes. “For Josh, I believe he will get a higher sentence,” Sacks noted. “Courts don’t want to deal with being accused of giving special treatment and just giving a slap on the wrist.”
