Disney+ premiered its original series, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series at its launch date. Since then, fans met actors characters like Nini and Ricky, portrayed by Olivia Rodrigo and Joshua Bassett respectively.
Actress Olivia Rodrigo wrote a song for ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’
As a cast member, Olivia Rodrigo had the opportunity to write a song for her character. It appeared in the fourth episode of the series and later on the music streaming platform, Spotify, entitled “All I Want.”
“Nini is just a teenager who is growing up and trying to find her place in the world, and so am I,” Rodrigo said during an interview with Pop Sugar. “We have a lot of the same experiences and the same struggles. She struggles with finding her voice when she is cast as the lead in High School Musical, and I was cast as the lead in High School Musical in a totally different way, and I struggle with finding my voice and confidence, too.
“Life imitates art,” she continued. “We go through a lot of the same struggles, which is why it was so fun for me to write this song because I was really just writing from a place of personal truth.”
Has Joshua Bassett written any music for ‘High School Musical: The Musical: The Series’?
Unlike his co-star Olivia Rodrigo, Joshua Bassett has not written music for this Disney+ original. He does, however, show off his guitar skills and singing voice on his Instagram account. During one interview for Collider, the actor shared that he frequently listens to the music for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series.
“I listen to our songs for the series, all the time, in my car. We all have them on a file, and I’ll just listen to them. They’re always stuck in my head. I love the old songs, but the new songs are just fantastic,” Bassett said.
