We’ve watched the Duggars long enough to know all about their shopping habits. Growing up, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar didn’t have a ton of money to spend on their 19 kids, so they made do with what they had. This meant shopping for groceries in bulk and thrifting for clothing.

Now, the times have changed for the older Duggar kids. Jinger Duggar has gotten ultra-stylish since moving to Los Angeles, and several of the other Duggars have come into their own style as well. But it seems the youngest in the family, Josie, has her own opinions about how the Duggars dress.

The Duggars are known for getting thrifty with their clothes

The Duggars have discussed their thrifty ways in the past. In order to save money as a family, the older Duggar daughters loved to find clothes at thrift stores and garage sales. And they each created their own, unique style using second-hand items.

Jessa and Jinger even discussed their personal styles back in 2016. “Jinger, she can pretty much wear anything,” Jessa tells the camera. “She tries out a lot of different styles, and everything looks great on her.”

“Jess is really good with fashion. She’s the one who actually got us all into it,” Jinger echoed in the same video. And Jinger added that Jessa was the one who helped her younger brothers dress nicely in their household.

“We shop mostly at thrift shops and consignment shops and sale racks. We love that sort of thing,” Jessa added. “So like, 95% of the stuff we wear is thrift shops and consignment shops.”

Josie Duggar is the youngest of the huge family

We’re sure Josie is learning plenty of thrifty style tips from her older siblings. The youngest of Jim Bob and Michelle’s kids is 10, and she’s considered their miracle baby because she was born a micro-preemie. Now, Josie is growing into her pre-teen years. And she’s surely sporting some of the clothes her older sisters used to wear.

Jill Duggar discussed getting clothes from her older siblings on an episode of 19 Kids and Counting nearly a decade ago. “I don’t think that any of us have problems with wearing used clothing because we’ve done it our whole lives,” she said. “You pass down the clothing from the oldest kid to the youngest kid, you’re saving money, and the kids are gonna outgrow it so fast anyways.”

The clip Jill’s speaking in then shows that she and her sisters only spent $235 on winter clothing that would normally cost her family over $5,000.

She called the Duggar’s style ‘ugly’

We don’t hear too much from Josie, as most of the Duggar family fans follow the older Duggar kids and only hear about the young ones via Counting On. But it seems Josie is really starting to come into her personality. And when producers from the show asked her what she thought of her family’s style, she didn’t have good things to say.

“In one word, describe your style,” a member of the Counting On camera crew asked.

“Ugly,” Josie fired back.

“And a collective LOL at Josie calling her style ugly,” one Reddit user commented.

“I feel so bad for poor Josie calling her style ‘ugly,'” another wrote. “That’s So young to be feeling insecure or uncomfortable in your skin. It’s a d*mn shame her family makes her dress like that and not express herself the way she wants.”

“Her options are all hand-me-downs from her million siblings,” yet another added. “It’s not like she has a lot of say in her style.”

Perhaps Jinger will take Josie under her wing and improve the younger child’s style as she ages. It certainly sounds like the pre-teen would like that!
