Joy-Anna Duggar’s Fans Think She Looked ‘Drained’ and Troubled When Gideon Was First Born
Joy-Anna Duggar and Austin Forsyth recently welcomed their daughter, Evelyn, into the world. The excited parents adore their daughter, and they can’t wait to see their firstborn son, Gideon, step up to the plate as a big brother.
While Joy-Anna seems ultra-excited for her baby girl, we can’t forget her reaction to raising Gideon when she first had him. Here’s what fans noticed about Joy-Anna’s demeanor.
Joy-Anna Duggar recently gave birth to her daughter, Evelyn
Austin and Joy-Anna are no longer featured on Counting On, as they chose to step away from the show and pursue their own aspirations. But they’re still keeping fans updated on what’s going on in their lives.
Joy-Anna’s posted plenty of photos of her newborn daughter, and she’s taken fans on her entire pregnancy journey thanks to her YouTube videos. We’ve seen Joy-Anna’s pregnancy announcement to all of the Duggars, her hospital bag packing, and her journey through induction at the hospital.
Now, Evelyn is here — and the parents couldn’t be more excited, as their daughter comes after their devastating miscarriage the year prior.
“To say my heart is full is an understatement,” Joy-Anna announced to Instagram. “We have been dreaming of this day and are so happy to announce that our baby girl arrived August 21st at 2:12pm weighing 8lbs 5oz and is 19.5” long! She has the best personality, is easy going and loves to be held!”
Her first childbirth experience with Gideon was recorded for ‘Counting On’
Joy-Anna shared her own footage when it came to baby Evelyn. But TLC recorded footage when Gideon was born. The network shared a clip from Counting On after Joy-Anna and Austin brought their son home from the hospital, and they seem totally overwhelmed.
In the beginning of the clip, Joy-Anna shared that she had to wake Gideon up in the middle of the night to make sure he was eating enough. And Austin noted he also had to wake up and check to see if Gideon was breathing during the first week of bringing the baby home.
“Being a mom is, in a lot of ways, easier than I thought, and then, in a lot of ways, harder than I thought,” Joy-Anna noted. And she added that she has a whole new appreciation for moms, including her mom, Michelle, as she raised 19 kids.
“Austin really stepped up, especially since I had a C-section,” Joy-Anna noted at the end of the clip. “I couldn’t really hardly get up at all by myself yet, he had to help me up and, I mean, do all the dirty work for me and for the baby.”
Fans think Joy-Anna looked ‘miserable’ as a brand new mom
Joy-Anna certainly adores Gideon, and we’re loving all the adorable photos and videos she posts of her son to Instagram. But many of her fans aren’t so sure about her demeanor in the TLC clip when he was just born.
“She grew up way too fast and she looks absolutely miserable,” one fan commented on the video.
“Joy looks so drained,” another wrote.
“Poor Joy looks awful,” another added. “This expectation of these young people having children straight out of childhood is so toxic.”
It looks like Joy-Anna and Austin are way more prepared for parenting with their daughter, Evelyn, in 2020. And we’re sure they’ll be expanding their family even more in the future despite how they appeared when Gideon was first brought home.
