Justin Bieber: 3 Famous Artists Who Publicly Dissed Him
Justin Bieber knows how to sell records, make headlines, and push pop music into new directions. He clearly has a lot of fans. However, any popular musician has their fair share of critics.
In fact, some of Bieber’s critics are his fellow celebrities. Some famous musicians seem to have a revulsion toward Bieber and/or his music. Bieber’s fan base haven’t stopped these celebrities from publicly calling out the Biebs.
Eminem
Eminem’s presence on this list should be no surprise to his fans. In his music, Eminem has dissed everyone from Lana Del Rey to Moby to Mariah Carey. Bieber was an easy target during certain points of his career and Eminem got on that bandwagon.
In 2018, Eminem released the diss track “Kick Off.” In it, he imagined Bieber selling drugs at Catholic school and said he wasn’t worth anyone’s attention. “Justin Bieber in a Catholic school / Selling dust and reefer when your back is to him / Don’t adjust your speaker.” Eminem didn’t seem upset at Bieber alone though, as he seemed to diss Christina Aguilera on the same track.
Later, Bieber criticized Eminem. The rapper released an album called Kamikaze which includes many critiques of modern hip-hop. After listening to the album, Bieber came to the conclusion Eminem simply didn’t understand contemporary rap. Although Eminem is known as a firebrand, he simply laughed off Bieber’s statement. Way to take the high road.
Marilyn Manson
Marilyn Manson is not one to mince words. His lyrics include lots of sex, violence, and profanity. He didn’t mince words when Bieber ticked him off.
Bieber once wore a Manson shirt and told Manson “I made you relevant again.” Manson wasn’t too pleased. He insulted Bieber several times afterward, once saying Bieber had “the mind of a squirrel.”
Manson also said he thought Bieber was a girl when he first met him. Furthermore, Manson said he wouldn’t fight Bieber because he doesn’t “like to fight with girls.” This insult is quite interesting, as Manson dressed very androgynously back in the 1990s. He even wore women’s clothes and long hair in the video for his song “Long Hard Road Out of Hell.”
Drake Bell
Drake Bell’s career is similar to Bieber’s in some respects. Both artists started out with young fan bases. In addition, they both came to music through unorthodox means. Bell’s musical career started thanks to his hit Nickelodeon show Drake & Josh whereas Bieber’s career started on YouTube.
That doesn’t mean Bell likes Bieber as a person or as an artist. When Bell heard Bieber allegedly egged someone’s house, Bell had some choice words for the Biebs. He encouraged Bieber to focus more on his musicianship. “@justinbieber instead of egging speeding around your neighborhood and defacing property like a little s–t you should practice your guitar!!”
Bell insulted Bieber’s graffiti art as well. Bell said Bieber was nearly as bad at drawing as he is at making music. These insults only cemented Bell’s image as someone who’s particularly combative and controversial on social media.
