According to Us Weekly, Musgraves and Schafer first raised eyebrows in June of 2021 when they were “spotted hugging and holding hands” in New York City. They also report that this was about two months after Musgraves was apparently seeing Nashville-based doctor Gerald Onuoha. They were spotted “getting cozy in LA” in April 2021 with even an inside source telling the outlet that Musgraves was “trying not to get too far ahead of herself,” but was “happy.”

However, it appears that Musgraves has definitely moved on from the medical expert and is officially going public with Schafer. She announced that she was off the market in an August 2021 New York Times interview in which she not only confirmed the relationship to Schafer but also talked about how they met. She revealed the two caught each other’s eyes at a crowded restaurant and immediately hit it off. The Best part? He didn’t even know who she was. She says in the New York Times interview, “He did not know who I was, which I loved,”

The news of the country singer‘s relationship with Schafer isn’t at all that surprising. Ever since they were first spotted in New York City together in June, the pair have been very flirty on each other’s social media accounts, particularly their Instagrams. Per, Page Six, back on Musgraves’ birthday, Schafer shared a series of photos of the two cuddled up with one another on Instagram with a caption that read “Here’s to you making it through thirty-two and here’s to you making history in thirty-three. It’s been so damn pretty falling for you, Kacey.” Musgraves also responded in the comments saying, “Sweet angel boo. Life is so much prettier with you in It,” via Page Six.
