Kailyn Lowry’s life has been an open book since she was just a teen, well, mostly. In 2022, the mother of seven opted to leave Teen Mom 2 behind and focus on her podcasting empire. The pandemic, a new relationship, and a secret baby changed how she conducted her life. In a recent podcast interview, Lowry explained how her relationship eventually led her to leave the MTV franchise that made her famous.

Kailyn Lowry left ‘Teen Mom 2’ after hooking up with Elijah Scott

Kailyn Lowry announced that she was stepping away from Teen Mom 2 in 2022. She hasn’t looked back. Lowry has been pretty evasive for the last few years about what led her to take such a drastic step in her career. She’s finally ready to open up.

In a recent appearance on the Just Trish podcast, she revealed all the reasons for the decision, and her relationship with Elijah Scott appears to have been the deciding factor. Lowry told host Trisha Paytas that she left the series in 2022 when she learned she was pregnant with her fifth child. She revealed that she had been ready to quit seasons before, but the pregnancy and her budding relationship with Scott, who had never been on TV, encouraged her to make the move. She said she felt like everything that was going on was “a lot,” and the pay was no longer enough to justify the stress of filming.

When Lowry announced the end of her time on the series, she had recently begun dating Elijah Scott. She was, unbeknownst to the public, pregnant again and was enjoying having creative control of her podcasting projects. Scott and Lowry are still together and are planning to get married.

Did she lose money by leaving the series behind?

Lowry has opened up about her decision to step away from the series in the past and how it affected her income. While Lowry admitted it was scary to leave the guaranteed paycheck that Teen Mom 2 provided, she insists she’s doing better now. She has credited Chelsea Houska, who walked away from the series for other business opportunities, for helping her make the leap. It was an intelligent business decision.
