Kanye West Boasts About Reinstated Billionaire Status 2 Years After Losing $1.5 Billion in 1 Day
In 2022, Kanye West lost his billionaire status when Adidas dropped him. His net worth dropped precipitously, moving from $2 billion to $400 million. Recently, however, West claimed his net worth is back up into the billions. Here’s what he posted, and what Forbes has to say about it.
Kanye West claims he is a billionaire again
On Jan. 23, West posted a screenshot to his Instagram account. In it, he claimed that he is back to billionaire status.
“In 2025, Ye’s net worth stands at $2.77 billion USD as confirmed by Eton Venture Services,” said the screenshot. “The valuation is based on his music portfolio and his sole ownership of the Yeezy mark.”
West captioned the photo “LAA LA LA LA” in a reference to his 2007 song “Can’t Tell Me Nothing.”
Despite what West said, Forbes still values his net worth at $400 million.
“Forbes had valued the Adidas deal at $1.5 billion. Without it, West’s fortune drops to $400 million,” said the outlet. “His current fortune includes cash, real estate, the value of his music catalog and a 5% stake in his ex-wife Kim Kardashian West’s shapewear brand Skims.”
Kanye West lost his billionaire status after Adidas dropped him
In 2022, West lost his lucrative deal with Adidas following his antisemitic comments.
“Adidas does not tolerate antisemitism and any other sort of hate speech,” said the company in a press release. “Ye’s recent comments and actions have been unacceptable, hateful and dangerous, and they violate the company’s values of diversity and inclusion, mutual respect and fairness.”
Adidas said that while they anticipated temporary losses, they were cutting ties with West, effective immediately.
“After a thorough review, the company has taken the decision to terminate the partnership with Ye immediately, end production of Yeezy branded products and stop all payments to Ye and his companies,” he said. “Adidas will stop the Adidas Yeezy business with immediate effect. This is expected to have a short-term negative impact of up to €250 million on the company’s net income in 2022 given the high seasonality of the fourth quarter.”
The rapper is reportedly concerned about allegations against Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs
Though West is boasting about money online, he reportedly has major concerns about his future. He is currently facing multiple lawsuits and worries about his connection to Sean “Diddy” Combs. Combs was arrested in 2024 on charges of sex trafficking and racketeering.
West and his wife, Bianca Censori, have been out of the United States for months. He reportedly fears being dragged into Combs’ court case.
“Kanye’s reasoning for not being [in America] has nothing to do with his children and has everything to do with the multiple lawsuits that he is facing in the states,” a source told the Daily Mail, adding, “With all this stuff with Diddy, Kanye is terrified.”
West’s children remain in the US.
“Kanye loves his kids more than life itself and has said this many times. He speaks to them and FaceTimes with them often. North is a daddy’s little girl,” said the source. “[West] maintains his innocence, but this is what he’s keeping out of the country for.”
