Kanye West is a suspect in a battery incident that took place after his date with Julia Fox
On Jan. 13, People reported that the LAPD confirmed Kanye West is a suspect in a battery case. In an incident that occurred around 3:00 a.m. on Thursday, West allegedly jumped out of his car and punched a man, knocking him to the ground. Early reports said that the man was a fan asking West for an autograph.
Earlier in the evening, the Donda rapper was spotted on a date with Julia Fox, whom he has been seeing since the start of 2022. The two have been spotted together in Miami, New York, and Los Angeles. They were joined by famous friends Madonna, Floyd Mayweather, and Antonio Brown for their LA outing.
Kanye West admitted to punching a man who he claims ‘wasn’t a fan’
Following the incident, the rapper admitted to punching a man, whom he said “wasn’t a fan.”
West said (via People) that the man was “taking autographs to make money on them.” He added, “This is the same as the paparazzi, this is not a fan. This is someone who is using your image, who probably never listened to your songs.”
He described the altercation in detail, saying, “It was 3 a.m. in front of the Warehouse. I’m saying, ‘You don’t know what I’m dealing with right now.’ I just finished these two songs, I came from the studio.”
West said the man provoked him. “And this dude, he just had this real attitude, like, ‘What you gonna do? And see that?’ Imma just tell you, that blue COVID mask ain’t stop that knockout, you know what I’m saying?”
The rapper has been arrested for assault in the past
This isn’t the first time West has been accused of a violent crime. He was arrested in 2014 after assaulting a photographer at the LA International Airport. The photographer said West punched him and grabbed his camera.
West was sentenced to 250 hours of community service, 24 anger management sessions, and two years of probation.
A similar incident occurred in 2008 when the rapper was arrested for battery and vandalism after an altercation with photographers and damaging a camera at the same airport. West was released on $20,000 bail, and the case was dismissed after he attended manager management counseling and paid for the broken photograph equipment.
