Kanye West Said He Wanted to Be ‘Next to My Children as Much as Possible’ Before Buying House Across From Kim Kardashian
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had a high-profile marriage before they divorced earlier this year.
Recently, West made headlines after he decided to buy a house across the street from Kim Kardashian. However, perhaps this move may not have been very shocking, especially since he previously announced his desire to be close to their four children.

When Kardashian and West were married, the couple lived in a $60-million mansion. They bought the home in 2014 for $20 million and renovated it for about four years. Since then, the mansion has been famous on social media for its white decor and lots of empty spaces.
After their divorce, Kardashian kept the mansion and has been living there with their kids. According to TMZ, the divorce process has been “cordial.”
“We’re told negotiations on the home were extremely cordial between Kim and Kanye, she’s essentially paying cash to even things out between them,” the outlet said.

It was recently announced that West had purchased a home across the street from his and Kardashian’s mansion. About a month before this news broke, West had made it clear he wanted to be near their kids.
“In all these relationships, we’ve made mistakes,” he said during a Thanksgiving visit to Skid Row, according to The Jasmine Brand. “I’ve made mistakes. I’ve publicly done things that were not acceptable as a husband.”
He added, “But I’m here to change that narrative. I’m not letting E! write the narrative of my family–I’m not letting Hulu write the narrative of my family. I’m not letting Disney write the narrative of my family. I am the priest of my home. I have to be next to my children as much as possible. So when I’m out the house, I got a house right next to the house. I’m doing everything to be right next to the situation.”
Shortly before this speech, West appeared on the podcast Drink Champs, where he said that he didn’t see the divorce as legitimate.
“My kids want they parents to stay together,” he said. “I want us to be together. You know, SNL making my wife say ‘I divorced him’ on TV ’cause they just wanted to get that bar off. I ain’t never even seen the papers. We not even divorced … ’cause that ain’t no joke to me.”
He also shared his belief that God will reunite his family.

There have been mixed reactions to West’s recent purchase of a home near Kardashian.
According to a recent Reddit thread, some Kardashian-Jenner fans found the move “creepy,” especially after West refused to recognize their divorce. However, others support this move as it would help their children see both parents regularly.
“If they did decide this together, then that’s great because I’m assuming they want the kids to be able to be with both parents easily,” one person wrote. “But if this is something he did on his own and is not welcomed by Kim, then it would be concerning.”
