Kanye West Wants Drake to Narrate His ‘Jeen-Yuhs’ Netflix Documentary
Rappers Kanye West and Drake have storied careers behind them. In his new Netflix documentary titled jeen-yuhs, West shows just why he considers himself a modern-day genius — and he wants the support from fellow rapper Drake.
Kanye West is releasing a three-part documentary, ‘jeen-yuhs’
Kanye West rose to prominence in the late 1990s and early 2000s as a producer. He eventually launched a career as a rapper with his debut album The College Dropout in 2004 and hasn’t looked back since.
With over two decades of experience in the music industry under his belt, West is an accomplished rapper and producer with several accolades to his name. His new Netflix documentary jeen-yuhs examines his career from its early days — and plots where he’ll go next.
Netflix announced the project in January 2022 with a new teaser for the documentary. The teaser included a clip of West speaking to rapper Rhymefest back in 2002, before West’s rap career had even taken off. “Me and Fest got into an argument,” Ye said in the footage. “I feel like he disrespected me, man. Tried to say I wasn’t a genius, s***.” Rhymefest replied, “But who are you to call yourself a genius?”
Jeen-yuhs will actually be split into three parts, with the full project being titled jeen-yuhs: A Kanye Trilogy. The first part, dubbed “Act I,” will be released in theaters on February 10, 2022 and will premiere on Netflix six days later.
Kanye wants Drake to narrate the documentary
Now, as Netflix prepares to release the highly-anticipated doc, West wants to make a major change to the movie. He wants his friend and frequent collaborator, Canadian rapper Drake, to narrate the film.
West shared a since-deleted post on Instagram of him texting an unknown person. “I need Drake to do the narration,” the “Good Life” rapper told the person on the other end.
West shared the image with a simple question for Drake in the caption. “DRAKE, WANNA NARRATE THE DOCUMENTARY[?]”
Drake appears to be on board
Drake himself seems to be open to the idea of working with West for the documentary.
A screenshot obtained by The Shade Room showed that Drake had liked West’s Instagram post before he deleted it from his profile.
Kanye West’s 2022
Jeen-yuhs is just one part of a busy 2022 for West. He kicked off the years by making headlines with his new relationship with actor Julia Fox.
In early 2022, he announced the release of his album Donda 2, slated for release on February 22, 2022. It’s the sequel to his highly-anticipated Donda album that was released in August 2021, and is the first-ever direct sequel to an album that West has ever done.
It’s unclear if West will perform any shows in support of Donda 2, as he may concentrate in the coming weeks on promoting the three parts of jeen-yuhs.
