Bravo isn’t ignoring Karen Huger’s legal drama. In a trailer for The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9, Huger addresses her March 2024 car crash and subsequent DUI charge. She says the frightening accident could have resulted in her death, but some of her co-stars think she should be more focused on the harm she could have caused to other people.

Karen Huger says she could ‘have died’ in car crash in ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac’ Season 9 trailer

In the teaser for the new season of RHOP (via YouTube), Karen speaks about the accident.

“I could have died,” she says of the frightening incident.

Fellow Housewife Ashley Darby isn’t exactly sympathetic to Karen’s situation. “Or taken the life of someone else,” she angrily replies.

Nor is Mia Thornton impressed with Karen’s behavior. After she hears that Karen has been telling people she is “not Potomac,” Mia reacts in disbelief.

“Is it Potomac to be a drunk,” Mia says, “crash your car into trees?”

But when it comes time for Karen to face the music, the ladies are there to support her.

“Lord, in the name of Jesus, wrap your arms around Karen,” Gizelle Bryant says as the women gather in a prayer circle as Karen heads into court.

Karen’s DUI charges stem from a March 19 incident in Montgomery County, Maryland.

Just before midnight, police officers responded to a single-vehicle crash involving a car that crossed the median and slammed into street signs, People reported. Huger, the driver of the 2017 Maserati, was charged with driving a vehicle while impaired by alcohol and driving while under the influence of alcohol. She was also cited for speeding and driving with a suspended registration, in addition to other violations.

In a statement to TMZ, Karen denied she was drunk when she got behind the wheel of her luxury car. Instead, she said she was dealing with overwhelming grief related to the death of her mother.

“Last night I met a girlfriend for dinner, we talked and brought up some very emotionally sensitive topics. I was crying on my way home and saw a car heading right for me,” she said. “I swerved to avoid the head-on collision, hit the divider and then a tree.”

“I’m hurt, bruised up a bit, but so grateful I am alive! I did receive citations, one of which was unrelated to the incident which is understandable,” she added. “[B]ut what was most surprising is that the car that almost hit me just drove away! I would like to stress, it’s important to understand your emotional state when driving and may this be a reminder to all to use their seatbelts, my Mother may be my Guardian Angel but the seatbelt saved my life.”

The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 9 premieres Oct. 6 at 8 p.m. on Bravo. Episodes stream the next day on Peacock.
