Kate Beckinsale was married for more than 10 years
When Beckinsale first became widely known, she was dating actor Michael Sheen. The couple was together from 1995 to 2003 and even had a daughter together in 1999.
However, Beckinsale quickly moved on to be with director Len Wiseman in 2003. She married him a year later, and the two of them remained together until 2015 when they decided to separate.
Wiseman filed for divorce in 2016. The reason for the divorce was stated to be “irreconcilable differences,” and a source told People that “there has been no drama,” just that “they have both had complicated schedules and have grown apart.” The divorce was finalized in 2019.
Kate Beckinsale believes married couples should not live together
Although Beckinsale’s marriage with Wiseman did not work out, it seems that if Beckinsale marries again, there is something she might do differently. In a new interview with Women’s Health, Beckinsale revealed that she thinks married couples should not live together.
“I think more people would do well married if they didn’t have to live in the same house,” she shared “Being married is kind of easy, but the living-with-the-person thing is a lot.”
She also added that her belief comes from the fact that society expects women to be more accommodating to other people. Thus, women who live with their spouses might be more likely to ignore their own needs.
Beckinsale continued: “I also think that for women especially—and this is generalizing—but I think it’s common for us to mentally subjugate our needs to whoever else is in the room. So if you’ve got a husband, a boyfriend, kids, or parents, it’s so easy to come in with an idea of what you’d like to do, and then end up going, ‘Oh no, no, no, it’s fine.’ And it’s quite nice to not always have to negotiate that.”
Is Kate Beckinsale dating anyone right now?
After her separation from Wiseman, Beckinsale got back on the dating scene and began seeing new men.
From 2017 to 2018, she had an on-and-off relationship with comedian Matt Rife, who is more than 20 years her junior. After breaking up with Rife, Beckinsale went on to briefly date another comedian: Jack Whitehall.
Most recently, Beckinsale was making news for dating Saturday Night Live cast member Pete Davidson. The two of them met at a Golden Globe party and hit it off instantly. They seemed to have gotten together in early 2019 and was seen engaging in PDA in public multiple times.
The relationship got quite serious after a short time, with Davidson even meeting Beckinsale’s parents. However, Beckinsale and Davidson broke things off some time in mid-2019.
A source revealed that the couple eventually felt uncomfortable because they “got super serious very fast,” so they decided to take things slow for a while. Yet, it appeared that they were done for good when Davidson began to date someone else.
On Beckinsale’s end, it does not look like she has been dating anyone after her breakup with Davidson.
