Kate Middleton Always Has Security With Her But Still Manages to Do This to Engage With Others
For years the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton) has been one of the most popular members of the royal family. People line the streets everywhere she goes just to catch a glimpse of Prince William’s wife and if they’re lucky, they may get a handshake and a chance to chat with her for a bit.
The princess of course has security around her at all times but still makes people feel at ease during all their interactions with her. And she always uses proximity to connect with her younger fans, crouching down to meet their level.
One body language expert has pointed out that what she does is reminiscent of another senior royal who is seen doing the same thing when they have an engagement and meet with the public.
The other royal who engages with people just like Kate does, despite security presence
Darren Stanton is a body language and behavioral expert with a degree in psychology. He previously worked as a police officer and used his expertise to uncover the truth when interviewing hundreds of suspects. He later moved into media and TV as a consultant and has been dubbed the “Human Lie Detector.”
Stanton has also analyzed the body language of several members of the royal family over the years. He pointed out that like Kate, another royal who always has security with them but you wouldn’t know it because of how they engage with people like no one else is around is Princess Anne.
Speaking on behalf of Spin Genie, the expert explained: “Although Anne always has security, they’re never in shot and she always appears to be in the moment and engaged with others. She often has her hands interlocked and her head tilted, which can be called ‘active listening.’ She is genuinely interested in others and what they’re saying. Her attendance isn’t just for show.
“When she speaks to guests, she often bows down to be at their level and makes herself as small as possible to build rapport and not appear intimidating, which is something Kate Middleton often does too.”
Princess Anne and the Princess of Wales always ‘exude confidence’
Princess Anne made a trip to South Africa solo after her husband, Vice Admiral Timothy Laurence, was injured while working at their Gatcombe estate. He suffered a suspected torn ligament and reportedly stayed back in the U.K. to receive treatment.
But even on her own Stanton says, again just like Kate, “[Princess Anne] exudes confidence without arrogance.”
He added: “I’m in no doubt that Anne will be missing her husband by her side and wishing him a speedy recovery. But the truth is her body language with Sir Timothy and without is virtually the same. Her husband is known to hang back and let her take the spotlight, and she has a natural confidence whether she’s by his side or on her own. That comes from years of doing royal duties and knowing how to speak to others with ease.”
