Kate Middleton ‘Can’t Simply Forget’ Everything Prince Harry’s Done for Her: Report
They haven’t been pictured together since 2022, but Kate Middleton reportedly remembers the “kindness” Prince Harry’s shown her. According to a report, the Princess of Wales, 42, hasn’t forgotten how her brother-in-law, the Duke of Sussex, “used to help” cheer her up when she felt “down.”
Kate remembers the ‘kindness’ Harry’s shown her over the years
Despite the ongoing royal family rift, Kate still has happy memories of her and Harry. She “can’t simply forget” the “kindness” Harry’s shown her, a source told Closer (via GB News). Harry, who has lived in Montecito, California, with Meghan Markle since leaving royal life in 2020, “used to help” Kate when she was “feeling down.
“Kate has never been someone that could just turn off her feelings with a switch,” they said. “And going through cancer has only made her more sensitive and caring.” (Kate announced her diagnosis in a March 2024 video. At the time of writing, her treatment is ongoing.)
“And the fact is, she and Harry shared some wonderful times together. He was very much a brother figure in the true sense of the word,” the source told the outlet, noting how Harry supported her from the beginning.
“Back when she first started dating William, it was Harry that went the most out of his way to make her feel welcome in the family and put her at ease,” the source claimed. “She can’t simply forget all that because of this falling out.”
Harry described his love for Kate in Spare, saying he saw her as “more sister than in-law, the sister I’ve never had and always wanted.”
Kate harbors no ill will toward Harry
The insider also suggested Kate isn’t hanging on to any hostility where Harry is concerned. “[S]he doesn’t blame him for taking his wife’s side,” they said. The reason? “Because she would expect William to do exactly the same thing if the roles were reversed.”
Additionally, they claimed Kate could someday reconcile the fractured relationship between her, William, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. “There’s a feeling that if anyone will be able to put this right, it’s Kate,” the source said.
If it does indeed come down to Kate, her track record appears to be 0-2. Harry described two unsuccessful 2018 “clear the air” meetings involving the couples in his 2023 Spare memoir.
The couple’s get-well message to Kate bothered William
While Kate may not have any lingering feelings of resentment or anger toward Harry and Meghan, William is another story. He’s reportedly upset the Sussexes referred to his wife as “Kate” instead of “Catherine” in a get-well message following Kate’s cancer diagnosis announcement.
“The fact that Harry and Meghan were unable to bring themselves to use her chosen name,” a friend of William and Kate’s said, “even when they were sending her get-well-soon messages after her cancer diagnosis, was noted,” (via Daily Beast).
Harry and Meghan’s statement at the time read: “We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
“William takes offence [sic] at people calling Catherine ‘Kate,’ because she has asked to be known as Catherine,” they explained. “It’s a fairly simple wish to respect. I’m sure Meghan wouldn’t like it if William started publicly calling her ‘Meghan Markle.’”
Admittedly “utterly trivial,” they claimed calling his wife “Kate” is “one of the things that pushes his buttons. Pushing his buttons while he was going through his wife’s cancer seemed an entirely unnecessary and deliberate irritation.
“If Harry and Meghan were serious about healing their issue, a good first step would be to call her Catherine,” another friend added.
