Most royal fans have heard about the feud between King Charles and his brother, Prince Andrew.

The two have reportedly been at odds for years. Some attribute the fact that they have a pretty decent age gap, being 12 years apart, as one of the reasons that they were never really close. Others, though, believe that Charles was jealous of the attention Queen Elizabeth II paid to Andrew. The current monarch was raised by nannies but by the time Andrew was born, their mother traveled less and therefore could be at home more and hands-on with her younger son. Not only that but it’s never been much of a secret that the Duke of York was always the late queen‘s favorite child. There was also jealousy on Andrew’s part as well with Charles being the future king.

While the siblings’ rift is well-documented, not many people are aware that Prince William has also been feuding with his uncle for some time and that has to do with the Princess of Wales (formerly known as Kate Middleton). Here’s more on that and what William has been pushing his father to do.

Prince William’s feud with Prince Andrew began when he first started dating Kate

Along with other royal family members, the Prince of Wales was never happy about Prince Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, or what the duke was accused of by Virginia Giuffre, or his disastrous Newsnight interview. But William has reportedly held a “grudge” against his disgraced uncle for another reason.

According to royal commentator Richard Kay, William’s displeasure with Andrew goes back to when he first started dating Kate.

“William has long held a grudge against Andrew for being unwelcoming when he first introduced the then Kate Middleton to the royal family,” Kay said via the Daily Mail before adding that William also “feels that his father has been too soft on him.”

William is said to be pushing the king to evict Andrew

By “being too soft,” Kay is referring to King Charles not coming down harder on the Duke of York and forcing him out of the Royal Lodge residence in Windsor.

Royal expert Tom Quinn previously told The Mirror that evicting Andrew would “send [a] message that having disgraced himself, he can no longer expect to live in the grand style. And, finally, it means that a suitably grand residence can be made ready for the royals who really matter — William and Kate. Charles is determined that Royal Lodge is the only residence on the royal estate at Windsor that is big enough and regal enough for his heir.”

However, it’s not known if the Prince and Princess of Wales intend to move their family there or think it should go to other working royals like Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie.

As a friend of William’s told Kay, “One of the main reasons why the [Waleses] are so content at Adelaide Cottage, their current home in Windsor Great Park, is because it is a family house and there are no live-in staff. Moving into the vast Royal Lodge would mean having to accommodate domestic staff, something they have long resisted.”
