Kate Middleton Has ‘Changed’ Since Cancer Diagnosis
In 2024, Kate Middleton endured a cancer diagnosis and recovery. A royal commentator claims Kate’s life and royal role were “altered” forever, leaving her “changed” in the aftermath of the disease.
How has Kate Middleton ‘changed?’
Since learning she had cancer in the early part of 2024, Kate Middleton has endured a life upheaval. As she grows stronger and her ability to take on more projects progresses, it appears she is a “changed” woman.
Daniela Elser of News.com.au claims in an editorial that in one year Kate “is a woman who would seem to have been changed by the grueling, dare I venture hellish, year she has just had.” She discussed an image shared by Kate and Prince William on their joint Instagram page of Kate hugging a fellow cancer patient on Oct. 2, 2024.
Elser wrote, “The image that Kensington Palace chose was not one of the stiff faces all in their good clothes. But of two women, both enduring and having endured cancer, connecting on a deeply human and real level.”
“What we are seeing is not a straightforward reversion to normal for the mother-of-three. The predictable politesse that was so often the hallmark of official Wales engagements. But a new version of the princess entirely.
“The Princess of Wales on the Kensington Palace social media accounts is coming across as a changed woman. The immutable, irreversible mark of cancer having not only altered her as a person but the way she will go about the business of princess-ing.,” Elser concluded.
Will Kate Middleton return to a full royal schedule shortly?
Kensington Palace has not yet revealed a full schedule for Kate Middleton in the coming weeks. She did state that she would return to work when she was able in a September 9th Instagram post.
Kate wrote, “I am however looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can. Despite all that has gone before I enter this new phase of recovery with a renewed sense of hope and appreciation of life.”
Kate Middleton’s next public appearance is expected to be at Remembrance Sunday on November 10. She plans to host her annual carol concert at Westminster Abbey the following month.
It is in these moments that Kate Middleton comes across as similar to Princess Diana
Although Kate Middleton was always considerate and kind when meeting the public, her changed attitude toward life is reflected in how she now interacts with them. This type of behavior closely mirrors her late mother-in-law Princess Diana.
Diana broke the mold of the stiff British upper lip. She used her sense of touch to connect with others on a deeper level. She wanted to remove the barriers between her and the public.
Diana’s ability to connect with people is considered one of her most enduring legacies. Traditionally, members of the British royal family were expected to maintain a certain physical distance from the public. Diana broke this rule frequently by hugging, holding hands, and physically comforting people, which made her appear approachable and compassionate.
Elser believes that Kate Middleton would have felt that type of love from her mother-in-law amid her cancer treatment. “If ever there was a woman who would have grasped her, unabashedly thrown her arms around her, who would have understood heartache and pain, it would have been Diana,” the commentator concluded.
Kate Middleton is married to Prince William. She is a mother to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
