Kate Middleton Says She Is ‘Hugely Grateful’ For 1 Group of People in 2024 — and It’s Not Her Family
Kate Middleton, who is formally known as Catherine, Princess of Wales, has not had an easy year. The princess revealed in March 2024 that she had been diagnosed with cancer, and she received chemotherapy for several months before announcing in a late summer video that she was officially cancer free.
While speaking to fans on Christmas, Kate recalled one group of people she is “hugely grateful” for — and it’s not her family (though we’re pretty sure she’s grateful for them, too).
Kate Middleton is ‘hugely grateful’ for healthcare workers in 2024
The Princess of Wales underwent cancer treatment and spent most of 2024 out of the spotlight. But thanks to the medicine and her doctors, Kate shared a heartwarming video in late summer 2024 announcing that she was officially cancer free. Kate has been putting a greater emphasis on spending time with her family, and she has returned to royal duties in a limited capacity while she continues to fully recover.
During her Christmas Day walkabout in 2024, Kate stopped to chat with a healthcare worker. “The amount of people who have written this year is extraordinary, and I think cancer just really does resonate with so many families,” Kate said of those who have written letters and wished her well. She then showed her appreciation for the healthcare worker to whom she was speaking. “People like you are doing all the hard work out there. I’m hugely grateful.”
While the princess is now cancer free, she said that she stands with all those who are still going through treatment; it seems that Kate’s diagnosis has had a profound impact on her and the rest of the royal family. King Charles was also diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. Neither Kate nor Charles has shared which type of cancer.
Kate Middleton will likely travel more in 2025
William and Kate did not travel at all together in 2024, as Kate was focused on her treatment. William did attend a handful of royal engagements abroad, but his schedule was fairly light in that area. However, William did say in an interview in late 2024 that he believes he and Kate will have more trips planned in 2025, likely when she is truly back to full health.
Despite being able to travel more, William and Kate are still the parents of three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, and they have been adamant about putting their family first. The two will continue to do so, and while duty calls in terms of royal engagements, they likely won’t take too many trips together just to ensure they are home often to support their kids.
