Kate Middleton Just Got a New Job
When Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and Prince William left the British royal family, things changed drastically for the remaining working royals. With the Sussexes and Prince Andrew on the outs, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and Prince William were left to pick up the pieces.
Things shifted once again when the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Charles intp relative exile due to their advanced age. However, the Cambridges proved they were more than up to the task.
In fact, Kate just got a new job that no other woman has held before her.
Prince William and Kate Middleton have become more relatable
One of the major criticism of the British royal family is that they are stuffy and out of date. Meghan and Prince Harry changed that perspective with their open and warm demeanors.
Though the Cambridges are not the Sussexes, it does appear that they are making some real efforts to be more relatable. On their podcast, Royally Obsessed, royal experts Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie spoke about the duke and duchess’ new lightheartedness over the Easter holiday.
“Kate and William jumped on a Zoom called and Kate called out William for eating all of the Easter candy,” Bowie said. “These Zoom calls really provide this insight into their lives and their personal goings-on that we don’t normally see. It is like the unglossy version of them but I still love to see that side of them.”
Kate Middleton has emerged as a leader in the British royal family
With this newfound openness, Kate has also stepped up to the plate in a major way as she prepares for her future role as Queen Consort. Royal commentator Angela Mollard noted on the Royals podcast,
I love how Kate took charge on the call, introducing both of then, It gave you an insight into what she must be like at home. I think she’s supremely organized, I think she’s the boss in the relationship. She sort of led the conversation, but in a nice way. She’s the boss in that mother of three children who does 50 million things a day.
Queen Elizabeth is said to particularly impressed with her granddaughter-in-law and the was she has handled her royal duties during this time.
Kate Middleton just got a new job
In addition to praise for her work, Kate also has a new job. She is the first woman to be named president of The Scout Association. She is co-president with the queen’s cousin, The Duke of Kent who has been president since 1975. It is also the duchess’ first presidency. Kate said in a statement,
When I volunteered with the Scouts on Anglesey eight years ago, I was struck by the huge impact the organisation has on inspiring young people to support their communities and achieve their goals. I am delighted to be joining The Duke of Kent as joint president of the association and look forward to working with Scouts across the country as they strive to make a positive difference to our society.
