Kate Middleton Will Reassure George, Charlotte, and Louis at Annual Carol Concert
Kate Middleton will send a powerful message to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis at her upcoming carol concert. An expert says by simply showing up and “doing her thing” at the annual holiday event, the Princess of Wales, 42, will comfort her and Prince William’s three kids.
Kate’s expected to make an appearance at her Christmas carol concert in December
Get ready for a rare public appearance from Kate, who has spent 2024 largely out of the spotlight due to her cancer diagnosis and subsequent treatment. Now cancer-free, Kate hasn’t resumed official duties as her recovery continues, but it’s not without the occasional appearance.
One such outing is expected to be her annual Together at Christmas carol concert. (Kate’s known to attend alongside the Prince of Wales and their kids.) Held every year since 2021, the concert is typically recorded in early December leading up to a U.K. Christmas Eve broadcast.
This year will be no different—save for a venue change from Westminster Abbey to Windsor Castle—despite Kate’s cancer diagnosis. People reported back in September 2024 that the carol concert would go ahead after Kate attended a planning meeting.
George, Charlotte, and Louis will know Kate’s back to ‘doing her thing’ at the carol concert
Speaking to OK! Magazine, former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond shared why the carol concert will be a significant “milestone” for Kate.
“This will obviously be a very special carol concert for Catherine, and the whole family,” Bond said (via Express). “They will be so proud to see her back taking a leading role in one of her very own projects, and I imagine that as many members of the Royal Family as possible will join her this year.”
Not only will it “be a proud moment for William” but it will also be “a joyful and reassuring one for the children” to see that their “Mom is back, doing her thing.”
However, Bond also pointed out it doesn’t mean everything’s back to business as usual for the Wales family. “It won’t signal a return to royal duties for Catherine,” she said. “But it will certainly be an important and hugely welcome milestone along her road to full recovery.”
Christmas 2024 will be ‘quieter’ for Kate and the royal family
While the Wales family will get in the holiday spirit at Kate’s carol concert, the royal family’s private festivities will be subdued as King Charles III’s cancer treatment continues. Members of the royal family are reportedly “waiting to see how Charles’ health holds up in the coming months before making plans.”
“It will be a quieter Christmas than last year,” a friend of Prince Andrew’s said. “But the question is, how quiet? Usually, everyone would know what bits they are invited to by now. This year, it’s just wait and see.”
So, after the royal family’s traditional walk to church on Christmas morning there may not be a big lunch with the extended family at the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, England.
