As Kate Middleton continues to recover out of the spotlight from a cancer diagnosis, her presence is keenly missed. How is her absence affecting the royal family? A royal reporter reveals how the Princess of Wales restores the House of Windsor’s “grace and kindness.”

Kate Middleton has had a profound effect on the royal family

Speaking to GB News, royal reporter Kinsey Schofield revealed how the royal family landscape looks different without Kate Middleton’s presence. She believes the princess’s effect on the clan is remarkable.

Her remarks follow an announcement Kate won’t appear to take a salute as Colonel of the Irish Guards. This job is part of her various ceremonial roles and responsibilities within the royal family. Lieutenant General James Bucknall, the former commander of the Allied Rapid Reaction Corps, will replace her.

Schofield says, “Last week, we discussed Tom Sykes’s report from The Daily Beast that [Kate] could be out until 2025. Then the reports that we could see her as early as autumn.”

She continued, “Then, earlier this week, it was reported that she would not attend Trooping the Color rehearsals next week. We all miss the grace and kindness she brings to the monarchy, but we really have to leave her alone until she’s ready to return herself.”

Schofield concluded, “I’m praying for her recovery and I miss seeing her. She’s gorgeous and she always was. Just a burst of joy.”

Will Kate Middleton appear at Trooping the Color?

Per a new report by The Daily Mirror, Kate Middleton may consider participating alternatively in Trooping the Color. A plan for the Princess of Wales’ appearance could be in the works.

Royal editor Russell Myers reports Kate may be “considering making an appearance on the Buckingham Palace balcony” after the official ceremony. Trooping the Color is set to take place on June 15.

However, Buckingham Palace has not confirmed Kate’s appearance at the event. The palace has maintained that the princess will not return to any royal duties unless medically cleared.

A balcony appearance would continue a beloved royal family tradition. It would also allow the Princess of Wales the ability to appear publicly without involvement in the long day.

According to royal photographer Arthur Edwards, Kate’s regular appearance at Trooping the Color could be “grueling” and “daunting.” However, standing on the Buckingham Palace balcony with other senior royals would ease her into public life.

Kate Middleton last appeared at royal events in late 2023. She hosted the Together at Christmas event at Westminster Abbey followed by a Christmas Day appearance where she walked alongside members of the House of Windsor.

The Princess of Wales was in the news one month later when she was admitted into the London Clinic for a planned abdominal surgery on January 16. Thirteen days after her procedure took place, Kate was released from the hospital.

In early March, Kate was seen for the first time since her surgery in a photo surrounded by her children in a UK Mother’s Day post. Later that month, the princess filmed a video detailing her health struggles over the past two months.

In the clip, Kate stated, “In January, I underwent major abdominal surgery in London, and at the time, it was thought that my condition was non-cancerous. The surgery was successful.”

Her commentary continued, “However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team, therefore, advised that I should undergo a course of preventative chemotherapy, and I am now in the early stages of that treatment.”

“This, of course, came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family,” Kate said of her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. “As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment.”

Kate Middleton continues to recover. She has not released a start date for an official royal family return.
