Kate Middleton Showed Her Support For Camilla Parker Bowles Becoming Queen With 1 Subtle Gesture
Queen Elizabeth II is now 95 years old, which means many people have been thinking about the royals who will take over the throne after her. Prince Charles is likely to become king, and his wife, Camilla Parker Bowles, could become queen.
While some people might not like the prospect of Camilla becoming queen, Kate Middleton seems to support Camilla joining Charles on the throne. She may have recently shown this in a subtle way.
Queen Elizabeth wants Camilla Parker Bowles to be ‘Queen Consort’
In honor of her Platinum Jubilee this past weekend, Her Majesty released a statement showing support for Charles and Camilla taking over the throne.
“I remain eternally grateful for, and humbled by, the loyalty and affection you continue to give me,” she said. “And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me; and it is my sincere wish that, when the time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service.”
Camilla has been unpopular with the public due to her role in Charles and Princess Diana’s divorce in the 1990s. As such, according to the BBC, in 2005, when Camilla married Charles, it was announced that Camilla would prefer to be titled as Princess Consort instead of Queen Consort. It remains to be seen which title Camilla will actually take in the future.
Kate Middleton gave 1 subtle sign that she supports Camilla Parker Bowles becoming queen
In early February, Kate joined Charles and Camilla on a visit to The Prince’s Foundation School of Traditional Arts in London. There, Kate re-wore a gray Catherine Walker coat dress. Although the Duchess of Cambridge has been known to re-wear clothing items, this outfit choice might have a special meaning.
According to Hello!, some fans pointed out that Kate wore this coat dress for the first time when she went on an engagement with Queen Elizabeth in 2019. By bringing it out again during an engagement with Charles and Camilla close to the Platinum Jubilee, it seems Kate could be subtly showing her support for the future heads of the monarchy.
Some people also pointed out that Kate often wears neutral colors when working with Camilla, speculating that Kate is careful to not outshine Camilla.
Kate Middleton and Camilla Parker Bowles reportedly got off to a rough start
Royal author Christopher Andersen wrote in his book Game of Crowns: Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate, and the Throne that Kate and Camilla got off to a rocky start. The author alleged that Camilla did not think Kate was a good fit for the royal family. Camilla even reportedly called Kate “pretty, but rather dim.”
However, it seems the two women have improved their relationship over the years. Camilla reportedly gave Kate valuable advice about how to deal with the press as well as how to adjust to royal life.
