Kate Middleton Spotted in Public for the First Time in Months
Kate Middleton has been taking some time away from the spotlight after the princess revealed her cancer diagnosis back in March. Prior to that, Kate had been taking time off due to abdominal surgery, and her last royal engagement occurred around Christmas.
The princess has been hard to spot ever since, but now, she has reportedly been seen “out and about” with her family as she continues her treatment. Still, people shouldn’t take it as a sign that she will return to royal duties any time soon.

Back in late March, after almost three months away from the spotlight, Kate shared a video message revealing that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The Princess of Wales did not reveal the cancer type or stage but did say that she was “getting stronger every day.” Since then, Kate has been very much secluded and has not put herself in the spotlight once. Now, though, sources say the princess has been “out and about” with her family.
Though it’s unclear exactly where and when Kate has been spotted, palace sources say she’s been “out and about,” suggesting that she is doing well with her cancer treatment. However, there is no timeline for Kate’s return to royal duties. According to Mirror, a spokesman for Kensington Palace, the office that controls all of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ affairs, said that her ability to spend some time out should not be misconstrued with her ability to return to royal duties. She has continued doing some work at home, specifically in the area of childhood development, though her work has certainly been limited and she has not undertaken any public-facing engagements in months.
Prince William and Kate Middleton will reportedly spend summer at Sandringham
It won’t be long before Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are out of school, and once that happens, rumor has it William and Kate will head straight to Sandringham for most of the summer. Though, that does depend on Kate’s treatment plan and whether she is able to undergo treatment from Sandringham. She also could be fully done with treatment by then and just use the summer to get a bit stronger before returning to royal duties in the fall.
Right now, the expectation is that Kate will indeed take the entire summer off. It’s not known what the status of her treatment plan is, but once the kids are out of school, the family will reportedly continue to seek privacy. It should be noted that even the autumn return date is not final. Thankfully, people continue to give Kate some much-needed privacy, with few questioning her lack of public appearances these last couple of months.
