Kate Middleton has been taking some well-deserved time off this year. The Princess of Wales was diagnosed with cancer in early 2024, and she refrained from making any public appearances until this summer, when she stepped out for King Charles’ Trooping the Colour celebration.

In July, the princess attended Wimbledon alongside her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her sister, Pippa Matthews. She was welcomed with a standing ovation, and fans were excited to see that she appears to be in good health. However, people shouldn’t get too excited; insiders say the princess is planning to take the rest of the summer off.

Kate Middleton is reportedly planning to take the rest of the summer off

The Princess of Wales surprised fans in the best way when she made her first public appearance in months at King Charles’ Trooping the Colour event. Prior to attending, she revealed in a statement that she would try to attend a few other events throughout the summer but had to continue to focus on her health. She later attended Wimbledon in July, but now, sources tell journalist Rob Shuter of Naughty Gossip that Kate will likely take the rest of the summer to focus on getting better.

“She’s going to take the rest of the summer off,” Shuter told Rosanna Scotto on Good Day New York. “We’re not going to see that much of Kate. Maybe in the fall we will see her.”

But Shuter did say that the princess is definitely getting better. “I’m told that her health is doing much, much better … But it’s serious. You don’t take this much time off unless it’s serious.”
Kate first left the spotlight after her appearance last Christmas, and she took nearly three months to reveal that she had been diagnosed with cancer.

Kate Middleton might only return to the spotlight in a limited capacity

The royal family has been trying to become a more modern institution, and William and Kate have always been serious about giving their children the most normal lives possible. It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Kate decided not to take on royal duties in the public-facing capacity that she once did. The princess has been continuing to do work behind the scenes, and she might take her privacy more seriously after having been sick.

Shuter also said that Kate’s cancer has “fundamentally changed” her and that she is more focused than ever on spending time with her family. Of course, she will still one day be queen, but it seems that she and William are working hard to strike a balance between work and family.
