Kate Middleton Went Out of Her Way to Show ‘Affection’ Toward Camilla Parker Bowles at Recent Event, Body Language Expert Says
The royal family recently celebrated Commonwealth Day with a public ceremony. As with any royal event, body language experts were analyzing interactions between the royals. According to one guru, at one point, Kate Middleton went out of her way to show “affection” toward Camilla Parker Bowles.
Camilla Parker Bowles was reportedly not a fan of Kate Middleton when they first met
Kate and Camilla have not said much about their relationship in public. However, royal author Christopher Andersen claimed that Camilla was not a huge fan of Kate early on.
In the book Game of Crowns: Elizabeth, Camilla, Kate, and the Throne, Andersen wrote that Camilla thought Kate was “too lowly” to be a future queen as well as “pretty, but rather dim.”
According to Andersen, Camilla’s opinion of Kate led Charles to encourage Prince William to break up with his college sweetheart. Of course, William and Kate went on to marry in 2011, and Kate is now an integral part of the royal family.
Royal expert Katie Nicholl also alleged that Camilla gave Kate some advice on how to handle royal life.
“In the run-up to the Royal Wedding, she took Kate out for lunch just to sort of settle nerves and give some good, step-motherly advice,” Nicholl said n the documentary, Charles & Camilla: King and Queen in Waiting. “She has been there for the Duchess of Cambridge.”
Kate Middleton showed ‘affection’ toward Camilla Parker Bowles at a recent event
It seems Kate and Camilla’s relationship has since improved a lot. During their recent appearance at the Commonwealth Day ceremony, body language expert Judi James noticed that Kate showed “affection” toward Camilla.
“Kate touched Camilla’s arm with her left hand as an add-on gesture to suggest closeness and affection as they cheek kissed,” James said (via Express). “She also performed a huge ‘act of inconvenience’ to show respect, bending her knees to lower herself right down to plant her kiss on Camilla’s cheeks. Her hand on Camilla’s arm dropped but she then replaced it for one final squeeze.”
James added, “These greeting add-ons are tie-signs that would signal to Camilla and to the rest of the world that Kate is keen to register affection and closeness with the woman who will be on the throne before her.”
Kate Middleton also showed support for Camilla Parker Bowles becoming queen
In February, Queen Elizabeth II announced that she would like for Camilla to have the title Queen Consort when Charles takes over the throne. Camilla has not always been a popular royal, and she initially agreed to be titled Princess Consort, so this was a controversial move for the royal family.
However, Kate seems to be in support of Camilla becoming queen. According to Hello!, a few days before Her Majesty made the announcement, Kate joined Charles and Camilla on a visit to a school in London. There, Kate re-wore a gray Catherine Walker coat dress that she once wore during an engagement with Queen Elizabeth.
Some fans believe this could be a sign that Kate is acknowledging Charles and Camilla as the future king and queen.
