Fall has barely started, but Kate Middleton has the holiday season on her mind. Although she’s not officially back to royal duties after completing chemotherapy treatment, the Princess of Wales, 42, has quietly held a meeting about her annual Christmas carol service, per reports. With the holiday spirit in mind, we’re revisiting the outfits Kate has worn to her Christmas carol service.

Kate had a planning meeting for her Christmas carol concert on Sept. 24

Decking the halls—OK, Westminster Abbey in London, England,—was reportedly on the agenda when Kate held a planning meeting on Sept. 24, 2024. (Her second meeting in just over a week after another one about her youth development initiative.)

As noted in the Times of London’s court circular, Kate held the meeting at Windsor Castle. “The Princess of Wales, Joint Patron, the Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales, this morning held a Meeting at Windsor Castle,” the announcement read. While it didn’t reveal much, it’s since been reported the meeting was about Kate’s Christmas carol concert (via Express).

While the date of the festive concert has yet to be announced, it’s one of the upcoming royal events many commentators predict Kate will attend before the year ends. Typically, Kate’s spotted at Westminster Abbey in early December to tape the concert. Then ITV broadcasts it—the official title is Royal Carols: Together At Christmas—on Christmas Eve in the U.K.

According to People, the broadcast is slated to air on Dec. 24, 2024, as usual, suggesting Kate could very well be there alongside Prince William and their children as she’s done in years past.

Kate’s 2021 Christmas carol concert outfit: head-to-toe red

Now for Kate’s Christmas carol concert outfits. She opted for a monochrome red look at the first-ever Together and Christmas carol service in December 2021.

The future queen wore a red Catherine Walker coat dress with a bow detail and matching heels. The Prince of Wales, 42, coordinated with his wife, completing his suit for the occasion with a red tie.

In addition to Kate’s holiday-ready ensemble, she surprised viewers when she accompanied singer Tom Walker on piano as he performed his song, “For Those Who Can’t Be Here,” by candlelight.

A year later, in December 2022, Kate wore a deep burgundy shade to the Christmas carol concert. Like 2021, she wore a coatdress, this time from Eponine London. Once again, she chose matching accessories

This particular look got a lot of attention. Why? Because Kate’s burgundy color palette matched that of other royal women. Her and William’s daughter, Princess Charlotte, even wore a coat in the same hue.

It came after Meghan Markle said in Netflix’s Harry & Meghan docuseries that royals weren’t supposed to wear the same color as the more senior members of the royal family.

Last but not least, for the most recent Christmas carol concert in 2023, Kate took her outfit in a slightly different direction. Yes, she went monochrome with matching accessories. But she also chose to go with separates, not a coatdress, and a white color palette. Kate arrived at Westminster Abbey wearing a long white Chris Kerr coat, a cozy white sweater, and white pants.
