Kate Middleton’s New Royal Schedule Might Resemble Harry and Meghan’s Way of Doing Things, Expert Says: ‘She Has Changed’
The Princess of Wales is doing life a bit differently. Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, which forced her to take some much-needed time away from the spotlight. Kate wasn’t seen for quite a while in order to receive treatment, and she announced in late summer that she is officially cancer free.
Now that Kate has had the time to reflect, though, she is reportedly interested in taking an approach to royal duties that more closely resembles the way Prince Harry and Meghan Markle do things.
Kate Middleton is interested in more solo appearances
For years, Kate has been tied to her husband, Prince William, in terms of the brand they have built together. They have always been known as “William and Kate.” The two met in college and have been together for more than 20 years. William and Kate are slowly changing the expectations of the monarchy, though; they’re putting their kids and well-being above their royal titles. And now, Kate is reportedly considering taking a more separate approach to royal duties that wouldn’t have her and William attending so many engagements together.
“Catherine may well do a couple of solo things so that William can stay at home with the kids,” royal expert Robert Jobson told Hello Magazine. The move is similar to Harry and Meghan’s approach to fame in the US; the Sussexes have started taking on more independent appearances.
“Her illness has been a life-changing experience; she has changed the way she lives her life, and I think she will be making her own choices. Her priority is still her family,” Jobson said. Kate officially returned to royal duties in September, but she has not resumed the intense schedule she was on prior to her treatment.
Prince William and Kate Middleton are putting their family first
William and Kate’s year was an unexpected one, but it forced them to reflect on what was truly important. The Prince and Princess of Wales have started putting the well-being of themselves and their children above royal duties, which they will likely continue to do.
Kate was bombarded by the public earlier this year when she refused to disclose why she was taking so much time off of work. However, she stuck to her guns and did not disclose her cancer diagnosis until she was ready, which she said was in-part due to her desire to properly inform her children of her illness, so they could better understand the situation. Kate has proven that she will not be knocked down by the press or public and will continue to make her own decisions.
